A destination marketing specialist with a diverse career in retail, wholesale and state government tourism marketing has been appointed to lead the highly regarded Tourism Tropical North Queensland (TTNQ) Sales and Marketing team.
TTNQ Chief Executive Officer Alex de Waal said Jane Wilson, currently the Marketing and Business Development General Manager for Southern Travel Holdings, would take up the position of TTNQ Director Leisure Sales and Marketing on August 3.
“Jane’s outstanding strategic marketing and analytical experience backed by a science degree and post graduate qualification in business management will bring significant strategic marketing leadership competence to TTNQ’s highly experienced team of four market specialists,” he said.
“She is charged with the responsibility of providing positive, well-informed and innovative leadership to both the TTNQ Sales and Marketing team and Tropical North Queensland’s tourism industry to facilitate highly effective collaborative destination marketing.
“Jane’s wholesale product management travel experience with Gullivers Pacific Ltd (now Stella Travel Group) combined with her retail travel experience with Budget Travel will greatly support TTNQ’s focus on influencing its global distribution partners.
“Prior to her current role, Jane led the New Zealand South Australian Tourism Commission destination marketing team for 14 years culminating in her team being awarded the Best International Tourism Office at the New Zealand Travel Industry Awards in 2012.
“With a reputation for providing stakeholders with well-considered marketing investment opportunities that deliver robust returns on investment, Jane also is experienced in innovative marketing and communications initiatives across all mediums including television, print, radio and digital.
“Jane’s strategic marketing skills and can do attitude will be invaluable in ensuring TTNQ retains its destination marketing leadership role in the Australian tourism industry and our region continues to be a focal point for Tourism Events Queensland and Tourism Australia.”
Mrs Wilson said she looked forward to working closely with Tropical North Queensland’s operators and key industry partners to ensure TTNQ continued to grow both expenditure and share of domestic and international visitors into Queensland’s premier holiday region.
“TTNQ has recently implemented a number of very successful campaigns in the digital space and I am excited about working with the team to continue to deliver innovative marketing solutions for the benefit of our members and our region,” she said.
“I am passionate about the great outdoors, especially hiking, mountain biking and all water sports, and can’t wait to become a personal advocate for Tropical North Queensland’s renowned beauty and natural adventure playground.”
