Turning the wheels of business with Tour de MICE 2017

A brand new event from M&I Forums, Tour de MICE will bring together 35 European buyers and 35 global suppliers from across the live events industry for three days of unforgettable cycling, innovative networking, and destination discovery. After a morning of 1-2-1 meetings, delegates will spend the afternoon turning the pedal before enjoying networking dinners and accommodation in three of Tenerife’s most outstanding properties.

Tour de MICE 2017 is the first in the exciting new M&I Active series by M&I Forums, bringing together international buyers and suppliers who share common interests and lifestyles.

Richard Barnes, CEO of Worldwide Events said: “We’ve run 1-2-1 meeting events in the MICE industry for more than 10 years now. Our experience has taught us that nothing builds genuine lasting business relationships as effectively as a memorable shared experience. Bringing together a group of people to forge new business partnerships through a common passion like this goes back to the very essence of why we started doing what we do.”

The inaugural Tour de MICE will take place this December in Tenerife, a true cyclists’ paradise favoured by many of the world’s top professional teams. Over three action-packed days, the tour will see delegates ride the northern coast from Santa Cruz with its volcanic hills and ancient rainforest, before heading west to the Atlantic coast where excellent coastal roads provide exceptional views across the imposing Montañas Negras. Some of the most dramatic climbs on the Tour include a stunning ascent to quaint Santiago del Teide and an optional final-day assault on the picturesque village of Masca. There will even be an opportunity for the Tour’s most intrepid riders to tackle the fearsome Mount Teide, the highest point anywhere in Spain.

Accommodation and dinners will take place each evening at three of Tenerife’s most exciting properties: Iberostar Grand Hotel Mencey, The Ritz-Carlton, Abama and Meliá Hacienda del Conde. The relaxed atmosphere and superior facilities of these hotels will provide vital relaxation and recuperation to riders during the Tour.

Worldwide Events, who operate M&I Forums and Tour de MICE, have partnered with Meeting Needs to give riders an opportunity to raise money for vital causes around the world with a total fundraising goal of £25,000. Worldwide Events will make a contribution of £100 on behalf of each rider when they join the Tour. Each rider will also be encouraged to raise additional funds through their own personal and professional networks via an online giving page linked to Meeting Needs.

Meeting Needs is a registered charity founded by leading figures in the UK conference and events Industry. Worldwide Events is proud to contribute to their current projects, including a global clean water initiative, a pan-African community-building scheme, and a support network for young people with severe learning disabilities.

Chris McQue, Director of Hosted Buyer Relations at M&I Forums and newly appointed Tour de MICE Sporting Director, is a passionate cyclist and believes firmly in the power of shared sporting experiences to bring people together: “Having a group of people who come together with a common passion is always a special occasion and we believe it will lead to some really solid business for those attending. We’re asking busy people to take a weekend out of their lives to do something they love while meeting some very interesting business prospects and raising money for a really good cause. ”
