A couple from Vienna have said “I do” on the Great Barrier Reef and celebrated by diving with a green sea turtle.

Sunlover Reef Cruises’ Group Marketing Manager Sarah Butler said an Austrian travel agent had recommended the Sunlover Moore Reef Marine Base as a unique and spectacular venue for a wedding and reception for two.

“Cairns wedding celebrant Eve Prince travelled with Eva and Christoph Langer on Sunlover Reef Cruises to conduct their internationally-recognised ceremony on the upper sundeck with Sunlover Captain Chris Todd and Sunlover Tour Specialist Tan Barrie as witnesses,” she said.

“After a seafood lunch and their first dance together as a married couple, Eva and Christoph were given a tuxedo dive suit, flowers and veil for their dive from activities pontoon on the outer Great Barrier Reef.

“They were very excited to encounter a turtle which gave them a truly unique wedding photo to share with friends and family.

“After the dive we surprised them with a wedding cake and champagne in a private area.”

Eva and Christoph said the location for their special day was stunning giving them an unforgettable experience.

“We chose to get married on the Great Barrier Reef because we were looking for a really special location far from the crowds,” they said.

“Everyone was really helpful and shared in our excitement so I would recommend others get married on the Great Barrier Reef, especially if they can celebrate with a turtle.

“No-one knew about our marriage plans. A few suspected, but we denied everything!

“Family and friends found out when we sent a link of travel photos including our beautiful wedding photos which the Sunlover photographer gave us on the day.

“We are looking forward to returning to celebrate our wedding anniversary.”

Ms Butler said couples could also spend their wedding night under the stars on the Great Barrier Reef on Sunlover by Starlight with Australian touches like a luxury swag and barbecue especially appealing to international guests.

“We have added a new deluxe two-person swag to our Sunlover by Starlight experience so the newlyweds can have an exclusive experience of the Great Barrier Reef.

“They can snorkel after the crowds have departed and then relax with a drink and a delicious Aussie barbecue while taking in an epic reef sunset.

“A spectacular tropical sunrise starts the day before breakfast followed by a private snorkelling and glass-bottom boat tour with marine experts to exclusive areas of Moore Reef before the day guests arrive on Sunlover Reef Cruises.”
