Two first-class musical voyages with SEA CLOUD II

February 27, 2017 Cruise No Comments Email Email

In autumn 2017, SEA CLOUD CRUISES, the Hamburg-based operator of small and sophisticated sailing cruises, will offer not one but two musical cruises. The cruise from Malta to Valencia will focus on classical music, with a trip to the opera on Gozo and various concerts on board and on land. On the cruise from Valencia to Casablanca, the music will have more of a jazz influence. The pianist Joja Wendt, who is renowned far beyond his home town of Hamburg, will give two concerts on board the ship and an exclusive concert on land in Málaga.

The first destination of the ‘classical cruise’ with SEA CLOUD II is the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Syracuse in Sicily, rich in culture and history. After a stop in Lipari, the largest of the Aeolian Islands, the cruise then continues on towards Palermo for the first major highlight – a private concert with soprano Irmgard Vilsmaier and bass-baritone Daniel Dropulja in the famous Palazzo Gangi-Valguarnera. After one day at sea, the windjammer will call at Cagliari in Sardinia where guests can explore the charming port city with a walk through the old town. During another day of sailing, guests will be treated to one of the most exciting experiences of the cruise – watching the ship’s crew perform various sailing manoeuvres – before the ship docks on the Balearic Island of Mallorca. A trip to the countryside will give guests the chance to taste various Spanish wines. From there, we will travel to the final stop on the cruise: Valencia. At the ‘City of Arts and Sciences’, guests can look forward to a concert in the Baroque Church of San Nicolás de Valencia, which will include wonderful arias from Handel’s Messiah, Haydn’s Creation and Bach’s St. Matthew Passion.

Other musicians on board include the award-winning violinist Danae Papamatthäou-Matschke and the pianist Alexej Gorlatch.  The artistic director of the Hamburg State Opera, Georges Delnon, will bring guests into the world of the stage with his entertaining talks.

Cruise date: SEA CLOUD II, 28 October 2017 to 6 November 2017, Valletta/Malta Valencia/Spain, from 4.995 per person in a twobed outside cabin. All concerts during the cruise are included in the price of the cruise.

Between Valencia and Casablanca, an internationally successful pianist will be joining the guests on board. The legendary Jojo Wendt has mastered the genres of jazz, rock and classical music, and after studying music in Hilversum and New York, made numerous albums and appeared with Jerry Lee Lewis and Chuck Berry. The cruise with SEA CLOUD II will take guests from Valencia/Spain to Ibiza/Spain and then on to Málaga/Spain. Following an onshore excursion to Granada, a fine example of Moorish architecture, Jojo Wendt & friends will perform exclusively on shore for the guests of the SEA CLOUD II. From there, the cruise will sail by the wonderful vista of the charming port city of Cádiz/Spain before continuing on to Casablanca/Morocco.

Cruise date: SEA CLOUD II, Valencia/Spain Casablanca/Morocco, 6 November 2017 to 14 November 2017, from € 3.755 per person in a twobed outside cabin. All concerts during the cruise are included in the price of the cruise.
