Blending the worlds of art and dining while celebrating Hong Kong’s culture, Tycoon Tann introduces a new facet of the city to diners.
In collaboration with Hong Kong’s Above Second Gallery, the lifestyle destination will host a series of contemporary and modern art exhibitions in the restaurant and Mod Bar. The first exhibition Hide and Seek showcases works by Miguel Marquez aka Michael Pederson from 26 November 2015 to 31 January 2016.
“At Tycoon Tann we celebrate contemporary and modern art by supporting talented artists to showcase their pieces at our place. We are delighted to be collaborating with Hong Kong gallery Above Second to showcase works that inspire creative discussions at the dinner table and bar,” says Cherry Lo, Executive Director of bma Catering Management.
Hide and Seek brings Australian artist and photographer Miguel Marquez’s work to Tycoon Tann, where diners can enjoy the mischievous and cheerful art pieces that tell a story. The art pieces create a dialogue that addresses social and political issues such as apathy, political control and human relationships.
Art pieces such as ‘(Dandelion) Please Do Not Touch’ (2015), ‘Can’t Keep Still’ (2014) and ‘Future Self’ (2015) and ‘Anywhere But Here’ (2014) seen around Tycoon Tann and Mod Bar play with the rigidity and anonymity of the roads and pavements of cities. They hide messages related to the everyday that seek attention, serving as a wakeup call for passers-by. Brining playfulness to rigid rules, street art plays with the city. At Tycoon Tann, the art will talk to the observer, and bring a smile to some.
Tycoon Tann’s art pieces will regularly rotate up to three to four times a year.
