Located in the heart of Central on Wellington Street, Tycoon Tann proudlyannounces its upcoming art exhibition with local talented artist Samantha Li this summer to fall. Celebrating the roots of Hong Kong’s culture through dining and art, Tycoon Tann will present the new art exhibition from 11August to 31 October 2017.

“At Tycoon Tann, our art programme is extensive and we have been supporting different talented local and worldwide artists to exhibit their pieces at our place since 2015. We are delighted to showcase different works that inspire creative discussions at the dining tables and bar. I believe Samantha’s creative artworks will inspire and drive new ideas and creativity. We would like to invite guests that enjoy inspiration and great food and drinks to Tycoon Tann and Mod Bar to enjoy this imaginative journey,” says Cherry Lo, Executive Director of bma Catering Management.

The art pieces by Samantha Li on display in Tycoon Tann’s dining rooms are in Chinese style that made art and dining became a perfect pair. Samantha has created a new form of art called Painting on Photo (P on P) since 2012. Her artworks were exhibited at Le Louvre in Paris in 2013 and received widespread interests. By combining her love of photography and painting, Samantha has developed a new art style Painting on Photo, where “real-life” photos are digitally processed before printed in black-and-white and oil painted in “abstract or real-life” style. By offering a meeting of imagination and reality, Samantha creates colourful, humorous and imaginative works which express her different ideas and views that draws attention and invites reflection.

“I am delighted to collaborate with Tycoon Tann and the restaurant provides a venue that perfectly matches the style of my artworks, as Tycoon Tann brings an East meets West dining experience where they reinterpret classic dishes by combining innovative ideas. I have selected the Chinese style paintings to be displayed at Tycoon Tann in particular. In addition, I love to use animals as the theme of my work as I believe the relationship between animals and us are very close and we have many similarities that can easily resonate us. I hope my art pieces will inspire, stimulating discussion and reflection,” says local artist Samantha Li.

At Mod Bar, our bar manager inspired by Samantha’s works, has crafted an all-new cocktail for art lovers as an ode to Samantha’s artworks. Vertigo (HKD118), which is named by Samantha, is made with Vodka, Hua Diao, Campari, lime juice, syrup, egg white, Angosturu Bitters and garnished by orange peel. The cocktail has a colourful Tai Chi pattern and different layers that uplifts the overall taste complexity. Guests can sip on the delectable cocktail while admiring the new art pieces.

On the other hand, our chef at Tycoon Tann was also inspired by Samantha’s works, and introduced two new desserts to provide a sweet finish for the meal. Named by Samantha, Head Over Heels (HKD138) is a refreshing dessert to cool off the summer heat. Appearing like a jello shot, this refreshing dessert is made with champagne, Monin Rose syrup, homemade Lavender gin and lemon juice. The light and revitalizing jelly will sure to delight and refresh the taste buds. For those looking for a sweet indulgence, Buoy It Up (HKD108) is a delectable dessert platter with sesame, green tea, Yakult puddings together with Osmanthus and pomelo jelly. With an impressive presentation, the Buoy It Up dessert platter is served in a traditional dim sum bamboo basket with dry ice is the perfect finale to the satisfying modern Chinese dining experience.
