U.G.L.Y bartender of the year campaign adds Tropical North Queensland to the mix

The Leukaemia Foundation has launched its U.G.L.Y Bartender of the Year campaign today to raise $1.2 million to provide 15,000 nights of free accommodation for people with blood cancer.

Bartenders at over 1,000 hotels and clubs nationwide will be showing their U.G.L.Y side (Understanding, Generous, Likeable You) and fundraising for this cause until 25 November.

It has been announced that those who raise over $5,000 will go in the draw for the major national prize of five nights accommodation for two at Port Douglas’ premier resort, Niramaya Villas and Spa.

Niramaya Villas and Spa is a 5-Star luxury Balinese pavilion-style resort set in 15 hectares of landscaped gardens within walking distance of Port Douglas Village and Four Mile Beach.

Niramaya managers Zac Sarnecki and Amanda Zsifko were compelled to partner with the Leukaemia Foundation because it’s a cause very close to their hearts.

“We’ve donated the luxury holiday package to the foundation as an incentive to hopefully encourage the participants to raise the most funds possible,” Mr Sarnecki says.

“The money raised in the campaign will go towards accommodation for people with blood cancer, to help reduce the financial burden on regional families.

“Every $80 raised during the campaign gives a family a place to stay for one night.”

Mr Sarnecki says the more money raised, the more the Leukaemia Foundation can help families when they need it most.

“We hope that our holiday prize is alluring enough to motivate bartenders to go the extra mile and reach at least $5,000,” Mr Sarnecki says.

“They will then not only be proud to raise money for such an incredible cause, but also have their fundraising efforts recognised as they enter the draw for a luxurious tropical getaway.

“It’s quite a quirky campaign which I hope will generate a lot of support for the Leukaemia Foundation as bartenders across the nation band together for this incredible cause.”
