Canadian Drew Bezanson believes he can make a successful switch to mountain bikes after breaking new ground in the BMX world with audacious projects such as “Uncontainable”.
The 27-year-old is currently on a steep learning curve to master another discipline on two wheels.
Ahead of the spectacular Red Bull Joyride mountain bike event on August 21, Bezanson took time out from training to reveal the lengths that he is putting his mind and body through to pull off this inspirational feat.
Asked about the motive behind the switch, he said: “I’m still doing both, but MTB Slopestyle (mountain bikes) is simplicity at its finest. It’s ripping down hills with your friends and it reminded me of what I love in biking.
“It’s the opportunity to ride slope courses exactly like the ones I want to ride in BMX, but we don’t have” said Bezanson.
What of the difference between his new adventure and the remarkable one he enjoyed with “Uncontainable”? “It’s a very different challenge, and definitely not scarier because MTB is a lot steadier. It’s just comfortable doing tricks on a mountain bike.”
