Unique New ‘Reality Check’ Inspection Service in Australia to Fight Online Fraud, Scams and Rip-Offs

A boom in online shopping and dating has prompted two Australian entrepreneurs, burnt by internet purchases themselves to launch a unique inspection service so consumers can check on goods, real estate, holiday accommodation and even prospective partners before they fork out money online.

Greg Rawlinson left and Garry Harding - Go to Guy2Established by QLD business partners Garry Harding and Greg Rawlinson, the new ‘Go To Guy’ Network – the first service of its kind in Australia – aims to fight online fraud, deception and rip-offs and offer consumers confidence and peace of mind when purchasing goods and services unseen on the internet.

For a fee of $55, one of the network’s 350 qualified and background-checked Go To Guys across Australia can personally inspect and take pictures of houses, cars and items for sale and offer an independent and unbiased first-hand report which consumers can then compare with sellers’ descriptions. Go To Guys can also offer client and asset verification for credit providers, visit rental properties for landlords, and also meet prospective partners that our clients are interested in to eliminate the guesswork and misrepresentation of internet dating.

“No matter what you want to buy or verify, the Go To Guy Network can independently check that item, person or property anywhere in Australia without you leaving home so you don’t need to worry that something on the net is not what you think it is,” said Go To Guy Network CEO, Garry Harding, who once bought second-hand equipment for a café online but was very disappointed in what showed up on his doorstep.

“Online fraud and deception is growing as fast as e-commerce itself but our Go To Guys can now save consumers time and money by verifying the existence, condition and seller’s claims of any item so shoppers can avoid falling victim to misrepresentation,” Mr Harding said. “Our on-site inspection service expands everybody’s purchasing horizon so you can buy a boat, car, caravan, antique or property anywhere in Australia with confidence, armed with the reality check our Go To Guys provide.

“In the real estate field, we can check on the property’s actual condition and see if those water views actually exist. In the travel sector, we can visit holiday villas to see what they really look like and in the increasingly popular arena of internet dating – an emotional minefield at the best of times – we meet up with a client’s prospective partner with their consent to verify their identity and appearance and take photos for the client.”

Go To Guy co-founder, Greg Rawlinson, who once paid in advance for a much-anticipated seaside holiday with his family in a dirty and smelly rented villa with broken fixtures, said the service enabled consumers to make better informed purchasing decisions independent of a seller’s representations. “Essentially, we eliminate the guesswork and uncertainty of purchasing online by unearthing any problems and presenting a product as it really is, irrespective of whether the buyer has seen the item or person or not,” Mr Rawlinson said. “And our service is available 24/7 – just like the world of online shopping. We enable our customers to shop from anywhere and purchase anything with confidence.”

Video verification is offered by the Go To Guy Network for an extra $20 while an express report required within one business day costs an extra $35 on top of the standard $55 fee. Visit
