United Celebrates Fifth Anniversary of Dubai-Washington/Dulles Service

This is the view from an airplane.United Airlines is celebrating the fifth anniversary of non-stop service between Dubai and its Washington/Dulles hub with a series of activities in the United Arab Emirates.

United’s Dave Hilfman, Senior Vice President Sales, and Jim Mueller, Vice President Atlantic and Pacific Sales, will host a number of events in Dubai for UAE customers and business partners including an anniversary reception, a golf tournament and a culinary demonstration by United Congress of Chefs member James Canora.

Since its inauguration on Oct. 27, 2008, United’s Dubai-Washington/Dulles service has been in great demand, benefiting business travel, inward investment and trans-Atlantic trade between the Middle East and the United States.

“United is committed to serving the Middle East, and we are proud to have completed five years of successful operations between Dubai and Washington/Dulles,” said Dave Hilfman. “We continue to see strong customer support for the route in the U.S. market, while UAE customers benefit from both direct access to Washington, D.C., one of the most popular U.S. tourism and business destinations, as well as unparalleled connectivity via our Dulles hub to cities throughout the Americas.”

The Dubai-Washington/Dulles flight, UA977, departs Dubai daily at 12:10 a.m., arriving in Washington/Dulles at 6:30 a.m. the same day.  The return flight, UA976, departs Washington/Dulles daily at 6:35 p.m., arriving in Dubai at 3:35 p.m. the next day (all times local).

United’s Dubai-Washington/Dulles service is operated by Boeing 777 aircraft configured with 8 seats in United Global First, 40 in United BusinessFirst, 110 in United Economy Plus and 108 in United Economy Class.

Photo 1 - UnitedUnited Global Firstoffers customers a higher level of privacy and comfort, a flat-bed seat, priority airport services and more-personal attention.  The Global First seat reclines 180 degrees into a 6-foot, 6-inch/1.98-m long, 23.5-inch/60-cm wide flat-bed seat, with a personal on-demand entertainment system on a 15.4-inch/39cm video monitor.  Other Global First amenities include laptop power, USB ports, noise-reduction headsets, additional storage compartments and a multi-course meal with complimentary wines.

United BusinessFirst offers a superior business-class service.  The BusinessFirst seat reclines 180 degrees into a 6-foot, 4-inch/1.93-m lie-flat bed and features a personal on-demand entertainment system with a 15.4-inch/39-cm touch-screen monitor.  BusinessFirst amenities include laptop power, USB ports and a multi-course meal with complimentary wines.

United Economy offers complimentary food, soft drinks, juices, tea, coffee and inflight entertainment.  Seats feature an adjustable headrest and a 5-inch/12.7-cm seat-back monitor delivering a personal on-demand entertainment system.

United Economy Plus offers up to five inches/12.7 cm of extra legroom.  Located near the front of the Economy cabin, the seats give the added benefit of allowing a swifter exit from the plane upon arrival.
