Never has it been so interesting and tight. Today none can predict the outcome of the coming elections in May for the new Secretary General of the UNWTO. far Zimbabwe, Georgia, Brazil, Seychelles, Korea have named their candidates and the news at FITUR in Spain says the Mexico is set to announce their candidate in thecoming  days. The number of candidates brings a level of tense feeling. With Mexico and Brazil this will mean two candidates fro the Americas and Africa also has two with Zimbabwe and Seychelles competing for the top position in World Tourism. A lot  of press from Zimbabwe showed a negative tone to the Seychelles candidacy, but yesterday after Alain St.Ange of the Seychelles had formally handed his official documents to Taleb Rifai the Secretary General of the UNWTO a tweet and a interview was posted by Ghana’s Kojo Bentum-Williams.  The interview brought out a breath of fresh air and reaction from all over Africa showed the Africa has matured. Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Candidate for the post of Secretary General of the UNWTO was heard wishing the Zimbabwe Candidate Walter Mzembi well in the elections as he calls for respect for the democratic right for an election for a United Nations body.

The link has been picked up by numerous social media houses as this call by St.Ange was clearly seen as positive and comments coming back from the post shows that Africa has moved from its past.
