UNWTO Says International Tourism On The Up

image011With international tourism generating $US1.5trillion in 2014, delegates at a UNWTO ministerial round-table at this week’s Arabian Travel Market 2015 in Dubai heard that international tourism will grow by between 3 percent and 4 percent globally in 2015.

Delegates also heard that tourism in the Middle East is expected to grow between 2 per cent to five per cent, with WTO Secretary General Talib Rifai, Secretary General of WT saying that international tourism grew by 4.4 per cent to reach a new record of 1,135 million tourists travelling to an international destination in a single year.

He added that recent data from UNWTO said that a record of $USD1.5 trillion was generated by international tourism in 2014, an increase of 3.7 per cent over the previous year”.
