The change in season is set to bring both mild weather and many business visitors to Seoul this autumn, with two major international events for the medical profession coming to the city for the very first time.

Starting soon is the 15th World Congress of Neurological Surgery (WFNS 2013), running from September 8-13, followed by the IEEE Nuclear Science Symposium and Medical Imaging Conference (2013 IEEE) scheduled for October 27-November 2.

Held every four years since 1961, WFNS is the largest neurosurgery congress in the world. Over 4,500 people are expected to attend its Seoul debut next month. 2013 IEEE meanwhile, is the first time this annual meeting of minds for professionals in the nuclear science, medical imaging, and room-temperature semiconductor X-Ray and Gamma-Ray detector fields, has been held in the Asia-Pacific region. Over 2,000 people are expected to attend. Both events will take place at Coex.

Other meetings taking place in October include the 16th International Psychogeriatric Association (1,000 attendees); Global Breast Cancer Conference 2013 (1,500 attendees), the 7th Meeting of the Society of Gastrointestinal Intervention (1,300 attendees); the 2013 Seoul Conference on Cyber Space (1,000 attendees); and SIBAC (Seoul International Business Advisory Council) 2013 (1,500 attendees).

Notable past medical events for Seoul include the World Congress on Dermatology in 2011, the 16th International Congress of Oriental Medicine in 2012, and the 20th IAGG World Congress of Gerontology and Geriatrics in 2013. Promotion and financial support for these events was provided by the Seoul Convention Bureau.
