Uri Buri Restaurant & Efendi Hotel Earn Top Honors In Trip Advisor’s Travelers’ Choice Awards 2017

Trip Advisor, the travel planning and booking site, this week announced the winners of its Travelers’ Choice Awards, recognizing travelers’ favorite destinations around the world in 2017. Chef, restauranteur and hotelier, Uri Jeremias, is the proud winner of three separate honors.

Uri Buri, Jeremias’ world-renowned fish & seafood restaurant in Acre, Israel, was named the #1 Restaurant in the entire Middle East by 2017 voters. It is the second year in a row Uri Buri has taken the top honor. Meanwhile, Jeremias‘ jewel-like Efendi Hotel earned the #7 spot in two different categories: Best Small Hotels in the Middle East, and Best Luxury Hotels in Israel.

Both properties have helped put Acre, Israel on the map as a destination for tourists & Israelis alike. The restaurant and hotel, mere steps from each other in the old city, are both shining examples of Israeli hospitality, and combine to showcase the best of the area’s offerings, from food to art to history.
“We have been the proud recipients of several honors & acknowledgements over the years, but none mean more to us than those awarded by the travelers themselves,” said Uri Jeremias. “It means a great deal that the diners and guests that have passed through our doors in Akko have taken time to review us, recommend us, and bestow us with such an honor.”
Efendi Hotel, formerly an Ottoman palace erected in the Crusader Era, was carefully restored and transformed over the course of eight painstaking years. The boutique hotel now has twelve special rooms, which are located on three separate levels, as well as a world class spa, luxurious rooftop and several communal areas that overlook the Mediterranean sea and Acre skyline.
Uri Buri is as unpretentious as it is delicious.  The waterfront restaurant has been welcoming diners for 20 years, offering the freshest Mediterranean catch, all of which is responsively sourced and lovingly prepared by Uri Jeremias himself. The restaurant’s biggest hit is their Degustation Menu, where diners turn over the experience entirely to the world class kitchen, welcoming course after course of seasonal surprises. To accompany their meal, ainers can choose from more than 100 different kids of Israeli wines.
