US Airways Adds 19th Trans-Atlantic Destination From International Gateway At Philadelphia

This summer, US Airways customers will be able to take advantage of new non-stop daily service from the airline’s international gateway at Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) to Scotland’scapital city of Edinburgh. 

For the first time, the airline will operate flights to and from Edinburgh Airport (EDI) on 176-seat dual-class Boeing 757 aircraft between May 23, 2014 and Oct. 1, 2014.

The new service will complement US Airways’ existing service between Philadelphia and numerous European destinations – including locations throughout the United Kingdom and British Isles such as Glasgow, Scotland; Dublin, Ireland; Shannon,Ireland; Manchester, U.K; and London’s Heathrow Airport.

“US Airways’ new non-stop service will offer travelers from both sides of the Atlantic Ocean a direct connection between the unique, historic cities of Edinburgh and Philadelphia,” said Andrew Nocella, US Airways senior vice president, Marketing and Planning. “This is our first opportunity to serve Scotland’s capital from our Philadelphia gateway, and we look forward to strengthening our ability to help customers explore the British Isles – from the iconic castles of Glasgow and Edinburgh to the bustling streets of Dublin, the rolling hills of Shannon and the magnificent towers of London.”

“The announcement of a new link between Edinburgh and Philadelphia will bolster Scotland’s economy by supporting tourism, trade and investment, and also helps to strengthen our enduring relationship with the United States,” said Scottish Transport Minister, Keith Brown.

Customers may book their flight to Edinburgh starting today through US Airways’ website at www.usairways.com, by calling US Airways Reservations at 1-800-428-4322, or through their travel agent.  The flight schedule is as follows:

With the new service, US Airways will operate 472 weekday departures and serve 118 destinations in the U.S., Canada, Latin America, Mexico, Europe and the Caribbean from Philadelphia International Airport.
