US hotel results for week ending 28 June

The U.S. hotel industry recorded positive results in the three key performance measurements during the week of 22-28 June 2014, according to data from STR.

In year-over-year measurements, the industry’s occupancy rate increased 4.2 percent to 76.1 percent. Average daily rate increased 4.9 percent to finish the week at US$116.90. Revenue per available room for the week was up 9.3 percent to finish at US$88.99.

Each of the Top 25 Markets reported gains in ADR. Seattle, Washington, and New Orleans, Louisiana, led the way as each recorded 16.8-percent increases. Seattle’s ADR for the week closed at US$156.65, while New Orleans’ finished the week at US$131.56. Other large increases include: Nashville, Tennessee (+16.6 percent to US$122.90); San Diego, California (+13.3 percent to US$160.18); and Denver, Colorado (+10.0 percent to US$119.59).

New Orleans (+32.6 percent to US$96.04), Nashville (+29.0 percent to US$106.05) and Seattle (+25.4 percent to US$146.37) were the RevPAR leaders. All Top 25 Markets except Miami/Hialeah, Florida, (-2.1 percent to US$106.13) reported increases.

Leading the week’s occupancy increases were New Orleans (+13.6 percent to 73.0 percent), Nashville (+10.7 percent to 86.3 percent) and Atlanta, Georgia (+10.3 percent to 74.6 percent).
