The team at UTracks, the active European holiday specialist, are quietly excited about the new range of walking and cycling itineraries planned for the 2019 European season.

So much so that they are giving a little sneak preview of their exciting new walk through the hilltop towns of Italy, which features in the 2019 UTracks Active Europe brochure.

UTracks General Manager, Kate Baker, says the team have been “burning the midnight oil” finalising the new itineraries for the 2019 brochure.

“Each year, we scour Europe’s most remarkable landscapes and cultural hotspots to create a carefully crafted collection of more than 450 active walking and cycling holidays that take travellers off the beaten track,” Ms Baker said.

‘Top of the Pops’ for Kate Baker in 2019 is UTracks’ new eight-day self-guided walk discovering the enchanting hilltop towns of Central Italy.

“There is something magical about the ancient towns of Central Italy – perched atop hills and cliffs and dominating the surrounding countryside with their castles, fortresses and stone-houses,” she said.

“Most intriguing is the stunning village of Civita di Bagnoregio, also known as the ‘dying city’.

“Less well known than Siena or Assisi, this medieval village has escaped the modern age mostly because of topography.

“Civita di Bagnoregio is accessible by a pedestrian footbridge built by the Etruscans and teeters atop a pinnacle of slowly crumbling tufa rock rising high above a dramatic deep-cut valley.”

“Without giving too much more away, the team at UTracks is extremely excited about this and our other new active European itineraries for 2019.”
