In 2017, agents will be able to pass on even more value-adds to their clients travelling to Switzerland.

Effective 6 January, the Cheese Express, a round trip from Montreux / Zweisimmen – Chateau-d’Chalet – Montreux / Zweisimmen will be rolled out for the second year. Passengers on the Cheese Express will be on an indulgent journey where they will be able to taste different types of cheeses from the Vaud region and see where and how they are made. Operating every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 6 January – 30 April 2017, seat reservations can be pre-booked (via Rail Plus and Rail Europe GSAs) or made locally.

Also new in 2017 is the name change of the Wilhelm Tell Express to the Gotthard Panoramic Express, where the journey combines boat and train travel from Lucerne through central Switzerland to Bellinzona in the Italian speaking region. Agents are reminded that the Gotthard Panoramic Express will remain part of the Grand Train Tour of Switzerland.

Agents are also reminded that from next year, the Pilatus cogwheel (steepest train ride in the world) and cableway will be included in the Swiss Travel Pass.

Finally, agents should note that the Swiss Half Fare Card Combi and associated passes will be discontinued.

Agents can book tickets and passes via Rail Plus, Rail Tickets, CIT Holidays and Infinity Rail in Australia.
