America’s northern sister has a lot going for it – the scenery, the diverse climates, the heartthrob Prime Minister (and his buxom butt)…we could go on. However, one of the best things the Canadian’s have going for themselves is their to-die-for selection of Food Trucks! The rise of the Food Truck has been a global movement in recent years, combining high quality cuisines with instant service – double win, right?!

Vancouver is often regarded as the Food Truck capital of the world – having nailed the on-wheels trend, with diverse tastes and cultures on show! STA Travel has pulled together a list of the BEST Food Trucks on offer in Vancouver, so you know exactly where to head next time you’re up north!

1. Mom’s Grilled Cheese Food Truck The downtown Vancouver street truck is one of Vancouver’s favourite and busiest food trucks, famous (obviously…) for its grilled cheese sandwiches. Owner and operatory Cindy Hamilton, decided after 20 years in the food industry that she wanted flexibility so she could spend more time with family. Creating a business perfecting the staple comfort food has proven popular among locals and tourists alike!

2. Roaming Dragon Food Truck Roaming Dragon was born after lifelong friends identified a void in Vancouver’s food scene…the absence of restaurant quality food being served via Food Trucks. After launching in 2010, Roaming Dragon has received huge praise for its mouthwatering menus and involvement in Vancouver’s Food Truck revolution. Roaming Dragon describe their cuisine as “authentically unauthentic Pan-Asian deliciousness”…we’re in!

3. Jamaican Mi Juicy Food truck Serving up authentic Jamaican food and real fruit smoothies isn’t nearly the best part of this food truck! When they aren’t on the streets of Vancouver, Jamaican Mi Juicy Food Trucks can be seen at your local festival, serving up traditional jerk chicken, wraps and freshly cut yam fries, topped off with delicious fresh smoothies. Jamaican us hungry just thinking about it. Any way to jedi-mind trick ourselves into thinking we’re in the Caribbean is cool with us!

4. Culver City Salads Food Truck The Culver City Salads Food Truck (adorably dubbed the “Granny Smith”) is serving you serious healthy goodness, with a focus on colourful and delicious vegan salads, 4. Culver City Salads Food Truck The Culver City Salads Food Truck (adorably dubbed the “Granny Smith”) is serving you serious healthy goodness, with a focus on colourful and delicious vegan salads,       packed full of veggies and protein! Plus, they’re helping the environment, by fundraising to become the first solar powered food truck in Vancouver! Sounds like the go-to Food Truck if you’re on your #fitspo health kick right now!

5. Tacofino Food Truck You say “Taco” we say “YES PLEASE!” Tacofino’s Food Truck has racked up a whooole lotta miles (or kilometers – depends where in the world you are) since their first truck pulled up in Vancouver 7 years ago. Since then, they’ve expanded to multiple trucks (meaning multiple locations) and varying menus so there’s always PLENTY of choice! Perfect for a quick and delicious lunch on the go with their taco/burrito, Tacofino says “ain’t nothing like a taco to take things to the next level”…AMEN TO THAT! Give us all the tacos.

6. Via Tevere Pizzeria Express Food Truck Holy Mother of Carbs!! Run by first generation Canadians with deep family roots in Naples, the team behind Via Tevere Pizzeria and their Express Food Truck want to allow Canadians the true Neapolitan experience that they have enjoyed for years. While you won’t find any pizza’s in this food truck, you’ll find a hybrid wood fired pizza sandwiches that yes, sound as flavoursome and downright delicious as they are! BRB, drooling.

7. Yolks Food Truck Name a more iconic duo than eggs and breakfast (we’ll wait). Eggs are probably the most versatile breakfast food and Yolk Food Truck is well and truly capitalising on that! Pretty much a build-eggs-your-way type situation, Yolk offers customers heaaaaaaaps of options when choosing their meal, making sure the hardest part of your day will definitely be whether you add fresh avocado with lemon and spinach, Portobello mushrooms with aiolo and fresh arugula OR hand carved maple ham, fresh spinach and Yolk’s made Dijon…unless you’re us, who will just take the lot, thanks. The breakfast Lords are looking down on Vancouver – all hail Yolks!!

Whether you’re looking for breakfast, lunch, dinner or a snack, Vancouver’s Food Truck scene literally has so many options you’ll probably starve before you can make your decision. If that happens, we’re truly sorry, because you’ve missed out on one of the most unique and funky dining experiences we’ve ever discovered!

Return flights to Vancouver currently start from a ridiculous $1,062 for those travelling between October and December – so if the Food Trucks weren’t enough to persuade you to get yourself to Vancouver, these fares surely are!
