Dramatic video has emerged of a heroic pilot who tackled an apparently drunk passenger who refused to sit down and who now stands accused of assaulting a flight attendant.
The American Airlines pilot, whose name has not been released, is shown taking down 25-year-old passenger Michael Kerr, who appears to be intoxicated. Either that, or Kerr is doing a very good impression of someone who is intoxicated. The captain acts after Kerr moves toward the attendant, tries to barge his way past and appears to push her to the floor.
“Enough! You don’t put your hands on my flight attendant!” the pilot says in the video, and soon has Kerr on the floor.
You can watch the clip here, less than two minutes long:
According to Mashable, the incident took place a couple of weeks ago, on 21 July 2016, on a flight from Lexington, Kentucky, to Charlotte, North Carolina. The video has only just surfaced, shot by a passenger who works as a flight attendant for another airline.
After landing the plane, the pilot confronted Kerr, and ended up pinning him down until police arrived.
According to Mashable, Kerr has been charged following the incident, with assault, interfering with the duties of the flight crew and public intoxication. He has been released on USD 25,000 bail while awaiting trial. The flight attendant is receiving physical therapy for injuries incurred.
