Video shows police after ‘man tried to open door’
Police board a flight and, calmly but firmly, order a young bearded man in sunglasses to stand so they can escort him from the plane under arrest.
It happened after a passenger allegedly tried to open a plane door as it was coming into land.
Passengers on the American Airlines flight from Los Angeles to Minneapolis say a man tried opening one of the plane’s exit doors while they were in the air.
A phone video, just 30 seconds, shot by passenger Richard Munassi, has been placed on YouTube, showing police escorting a man off the plane.
“There was a lot of yelling and screaming,” Munassi, a frequent flyer, told CBS Minnesota. “I thought perhaps two of the passengers had gotten into maybe a fist fight.”
The commotion and scuffle he heard was, apparently, other passengers trying to stop a man opening an exit door – a feat which, we are repeatedly told, is impossible.
Another passenger spoke of a “crazy experience” in which he heard a man shouting “I’m about to punch him!” It was the voice of another passenger about to strike the man allegedly trying to open the door
A police spokesperson said because the incident happened during a flight, the investigation has been turned over to the FBI.
