Over the past few months I have conducted inaugural property & destination inspections of Da Nang, Hoi An and Ha Noi all flying for the first time with Vietjet.
My initial impression commencing with the on-line booking system was great with no issues at all. This was for my inaugural visit to Da Nang and Hoi An but for Ha Noi,I’ll come back to later.
Check-in at counters no issues, friendly and attentive staff. Aircraft were very clean and well presented.
Flights were smooth, and arrived at destinations on time.
For my Ha Noi flight from Saigon an utter disappointment from the beginning.
Had booked my flight a week before on-line in Melbourne all good but the day of my flight all down hill from there.
As with property and destinations inspections time is precious. Received a message from the airline at 6.00am ( shaving time) and the worst possible news.
Instead of a 10.00 am flight I am now departing around 6.00pm, great start to my journey to Ha Noi NOT!
The flight was comfortable, smooth, cabin crew great but I was on a downer because of lost time.
By the time I arrived at my Hotel, Sheraton Ha Noi it was 8.45 pm , just a waste of a bloody day.
I had limited time the next day to conduct my property inspection and see some of Ha Noi as I was flying back to Saigon that afternoon.
I nearly forgot my flight actually lifted off 50 minutes after scheduled departure time, from Saigon couldn’t win on this one !
The flight back to Saigon was all good enough said but it did leave on time.
As my Company ASIA SPA RETREAT specialises in bespoke Ladies Only Spa & Wellness Group Tours it is imperative that we depart and arrive pretty much to our scheduled times when it comes to Domestic Flights, when you consider the ramifications for our group arriving late to our Hotel and what it would mean to our programme.

Barrie, the SGN-HAN route is the world’s 7th busiest! Vietjet is cheap but often late departures and cancellations come with the $ savings. You were lucky not to have encountered issues on your other sectors. If it were critical to have the day in Hanoi and you were messaged at 6am that your 10am flight had been cancelled, there is an abundance of alternatives prior to 6pm. A quick check of the Jetstar web site at 7.15am VN local time today, for example, shows a Jetstar Pacific departure at 9.25am today arr HAN 11.30am. Cost? A$114 for the base fare and presumably you’d lose the Vietjet fare … small price to avoid the stress and frustration.
