Vietnam Airlines is delighted to announce it has received a new Global 4-Star certification from APEX, the Airline Passenger Experience Association. It is the airline industry’s first rating program based solely on verified and certified passenger feedback.

The APEX Official Airline Ratings™ are created based on passenger feedback gathered through APEX’s partnership with TripIt® from Concur®, the world’s highest-rated travel-organising app. More than one million flights were rated by passengers across nearly 500 airlines globally between 1 July 2017 and 30 June 2018. Including Vietnam Airlines, only 23 airlines in total achieved the prestigious 4-Star status, in addition to other leading providers such as KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Air France, British Airways, United Airlines.

Passengers rated their overall flight experience from one to five stars and were given the opportunity to provide anonymous ratings in subcategories: seat comfort, cabin service, food and beverage and entertainment.

Highlights from the Vietnam Airlines inflight experience can be seen across various service aspects. For example, passengers enjoyed innovative luxurious upgrades such as the new Business-class full flat seats on the modern wide-body aircrafts Boeing B787-9 Dreamliner and Airbus A350-900 XWB. Other service improvements included the carrier’s recent expansion of its inflight entertainment system-passengers can enjoy over 100 latest movies from around the world in different languages, 200 TV channels and a huge music collection. From 2018, the number of entertainment channels have been doubled, including more varied content giving customers more choices than ever.

In its quest for excellence, Vietnam Airlines is continuing to improve all elements of its in-flight offering. In dining, the collaboration with renowned Australian-Vietnamese Chef Luke Nguyen and his refresh of the Business-class menu, to reflect the cuisine and vibrant culture of Vietnam, will come into force in early 2019 as well as the introduction of a new delicious menu of Signature cocktails.

In terms of product enhancements, new pyjamas, blankets and bed linen will be introduced on Business-class on long-haul routes to the UK, France, Germany, Australia, Russia as well as duty-free inflight shopping.

“Vietnam Airlines has advanced their service to a 2019 APEX Four Star Global Airline as validated by thousands of validated, verified, and certified voting airline travellers.” APEX CEO Dr. Joe Leader stated, “I personally flew Vietnam Airlines last year to Hanoi and served as one of those thousands of votes. The airline has advanced so much from when I flew to Ho Chi Minh City years ago. Vietnam Airlines should be quite proud of its airline passenger experience advancements.”

The APEX certification comes after Vietnam Airlines recently received the prestigious 4-Star rating for a third consecutive year by Skytrax, another leading airline and airport rating organization.

While maintaining its 4-star rating awarded by Skytrax which based on evaluation of product and service standards for both the onboard and airport environments using a unified and consistent rating system, Vietnam Airlines also makes great strides in sustainably enhancing its airline passenger experience according to APEX’s standards.
