Views On Top, the travel app released in May 2014 to help travellers find destinations with scenic views all around the world, was one of four Finalists in the AUS Mobile & App Design Awards 2014 Travel & Tourism category, alongside well-known brands, government and major travel organisations.

Margaret Scott, Views On Top Founder and Nat Palakawong, Buzinga App Development

A photo-based mobile travel guide, Views On Top’s elegant, intuitive design makes it easy to find places to visit with that ‘wow’ bird’s eye, panoramic view, all around the globe – from famous tourist attractions to lesser-known gems and from free to five-star.

Founder and Chief ViewOlogist, Margaret Scott, says, “Views On Top has done the research for you. Wherever you are, the ‘Near Me’ screen shows you where to go for a good view, close by and up to around 1,000 kilometres away. With pictures of the destination and/or the view you’ll see when you get there, contact details, opening times and more, Views On Top makes finding places with a good view easy.”

Views On Top has attracted a lot of interest since launching in May 2014. An updated version was released two weeks ago and is now compatible with iPad and iTouch. You can explore destinations before you go or when you arrive, plus search by the type of experience you’re after – from eating and drinking to hikes, drives, gondola rides, adrenalin experiences and more.

For keen photographers, Views On Top is a great way to showcase their photos of views; images submitted (and approved) appear in the app with credit given. Travel lovers can pin where they’ve been and create a “bucket list” of places to visit later, on their own world maps. And Views On Top even makes it easy to book tickets to scenic tourist attractions, and rooms in hotels with panoramic bars, restaurants and pools, straight from the app.

Now with more than 700 destinations in 400 locations across 85 countries, Views On Top showcases over 500 observation decks and lookouts, 450 rooftops, 350 restaurants and 200 bars – all with great views. Including monuments and cathedrals, mountains, parks, observation wheels, waterfalls, bridges, adrenalin destinations and more, the list is growing as Views On Top’s users (Views On Top calls them ‘Viewsers’) share their recommendations for places to add to the app.

Margaret says, “I particularly enjoyed using Views On Top when I travelled to the US in May. Opening the app in Denver I realised that the world’s highest cog wheel railway, Pikes Peak, was only 100 miles away. So I hired a car and drove there the next day. It’s an amazing experience being 14,115 feet above sea level and the views were wonderful!”

No other app makes it so easy for business and leisure travellers alike, to find places with great views.
