Virtuoso CEO Matthew D. Upchurch Jets In For 10th Anniversary Celebrations At Australian Roadshow

Matthew D. Upchurch, Chairman and CEO of international luxury travel network Virtuoso®, visited Australia earlier this month as part of Virtuoso’s annual Australian Roadshow, which came as the network celebrated its 10th year of successful operations in Australia and New Zealand.

On Sunday 2 March, Crown Towers Melbourne hosted a glittering celebratory dinner  for Virtuoso travel agency owner managers, executives from Crown Towers and senior members of Virtuoso’s management team, including Matthew D. Upchurch; Becky Powell, Senior Vice President Global Member Development, and Michael Londregan, Virtuoso’s new Managing Director for Australia, New Zealand and Asia.

Virtuoso, a company long established in the United States, Canada, Latin America and the Caribbean, came into the Australian market in 2004 with the announcement of its founding travel agency member, Mary Rossi Travel.  Since then, Virtuoso has welcomed travel agency members in 54 locations in Australia and New Zealand.

The Crown Towers dinner started a week of Virtuoso events including the Owners’ Regional meeting and the annual training and networking Roadshow which brought together 32 luxury suppliers from as far afield as Peru, Hawaii, India, Ireland, Italy and South Africa, as well as hundreds of accredited Virtuoso travel advisors. Taking in Melbourne, Sydney and the Gold Coast, the Roadshow included workshops where suppliers meet with advisors to showcase their latest product offering, as well as updates from the Virtuoso management team.

Virtuoso counts more than 335 travel agencies in 20 countries as its members, representing 7,200 travel advisors globally.  Globally, Virtuoso-affiliated agencies generate US$12.5 billion in annual sales, making it the most powerful network in the luxury travel segment.
