Global luxury travel network, Virtuoso, continues to grow its profile in China by appointing its first in-market general manager and establishing a Virtuoso China office in coming months.

Virtuoso has continued its strong investment in building its Asian membership, which has seen the number of member agency locations in Greater China grow to 24.  To support this growth, Virtuoso has appointed Irene Lee as General Manager China, working with Asia Regional Director, Evan Pierce from Shanghai.

Managing Director of Virtuoso Asia Pacific, Michael Londregan says Ms Lee’s appointment will enable the business to fully connect with its China-based members.

“Irene’s extensive international experience and broad understanding of the business environment in China will enable Virtuoso to execute the ambitious strategy we have for the region,” Mr Londregan says.

“Virtuoso’s continued investment of local resources is recognition of the importance of this market as the appetite for Chinese travellers to experience the world in an upscale manner continues to grow.

“This year we held our regional Forum in Beijing and our first-ever Virtuoso Travel Week on Tour – Asia, incorporating meetings in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong. We also launched China-specific product programs and professional development training for advisors.

“These investments have been greatly appreciated by our members and partners and will work to ensure we are in a position to execute Virtuoso’s globally focused playbook with specific relevance in each international market.”

With 18 years of experience in business consulting, and the past ten spent helping international brands build their go-to-market strategies in China, Ms Lee has a passion for luxury travel and expanding Virtuoso’s growing reputation in China.

“China is a dynamic market, with a unique culture and increasing demand for travel, and Virtuoso is the ideal platform to deliver the unique and meaningful experiences luxury Chinese travellers are seeking.”

“This is an exciting time in Virtuoso’s expansion and I am pleased to be joining a great team in delivering a new chapter in its growth.”
