A delegation of 27 tourism, travel and hospitality operators from Australia’s capital, Canberra, was recently in Singapore on a sales mission in preparation of the direct flights between Singapore and Canberra on 20 September 2016.
Led by the International Partnerships team at VisitCanberra, the group conducted a series of workshops for the travel agents and hosted a VIP lunch for media and key travel partners at the Grand Hyatt Singapore.
Announced in January 2016, the direct flight on Singapore Airlines forms part of the Capital Express’ route connecting Singapore, Canberra and Wellington.
“This is the largest delegation of tourism operators from Canberra and Region to visit Singapore. We are all very excited and geared up to welcome visitors from Singapore,” VisitCanberra Director, Ian Hill, said.
The diverse group of operators included Jamala Wildlife Lodge, the National Museum of Australia and hot air balloon company Balloon Aloft.
Singapore visitors would be surprised by the range of tourism experiences on offer in the Canberra Region and the ease of accessing them, Mr Hill said.
“Singapore forms the fifth largest group of visitors to Australia. With this direct flight, they will find it so conveniently accessible in exploring the capital. We are confident that they will enjoy our beautiful young and sophisticated capital city which has award-winning produce, world-class events and festivals, and our diverse capital region.”
Singapore Airlines will operate scheduled flights to and from Canberra four times a week.
