Visitors Love Samoa!

Samoa has made a positive start to 2014 as visitor numbers to the Treasured Islands increase.  The destination continues to make inroads and is fast becoming one of the most preferred destinations in the South Pacific.

According to figures supplied by the Samoa Bureau of Statistics, there was a 6.6% increase in visitors during January-March 2014 compared to the same time last year.

New Zealand and Australia continue to lead the world in visitor numbers to Samoa, with both markets boasting an increase in visits compared to last year, followed by American Samoa and the United States.

Samoa Tourism Authority says that despite the challenges South Pacific destinations are facing and the year-long closure of the iconic and popular Aggie Grey’s Hotel in Apia for refurbishment, Samoa is performing very well.

“The increase in visitor numbers to Samoa is an indication that the market agrees that things are on the right track, especially following an extraordinary 2012”.

“2014 is set to be an exciting year for us with new properties such as Saletoga Sands Resort and Return to Paradise Resort opening on the south coast of Upolu, which is quickly developing a reputation as ‘The Romance Coast’ for its stunning un-crowded beaches, gorgeous waterfalls and natural attractions such as To Sua Ocean Trench. This year Samoa also welcome Starwood’s Sheraton brand with its partnership with the iconic Aggie Grey’s properties,” says Samoa Tourism Authority.
