Penang Bon Odori Festival 2014

Date: 19 July 2014

Time: 6pm- 11pm

Venue: Esplanade

*Fireworks display at 10pm

Penang’s most anticipated Japanese cultural  festival is back  this year with exciting games, mouth watering Japanese food, exotic performances and more.

The annual Bon Odori Festival will be happening on the 19 July 2014, from 6pm – 11pm. As usual, the fireworks will start at 10pm sharp.

There will be over 80 stalls selling authentic Japanese food, handicrafts and games. Visitors can also try out Japanese traditional costumes and take photos with Cosplayers.

Time Out Penang’s Weekly Picks

George Town Festival has launched an instagram contest which will take place all over George Town. The quirkiest, funniest, and most inventive selfie collages will be rewarded with tickets to Circus Circus, a show part of the George Town Festival featuring contemporary performances from China and Japan.

Daughter of legendary Alleycats member Loganathan returns to Penang for her feature concert. Enjoy three main themes of Malay recipes at G Cafe’s Ramadhan buffet dinner plus classic Ramadhan dishes at Sarkies’ and Loke Thye Kee’s buffets.

Cruise to Monkey Beach

Date: 6 July 2014

RM299 per person

Blue Whale Cruise brings you a special cruise package to Monkey Beach with a BBQ on board the “Whale” cruise boat. The cruise departs from Straits Quay Marina at 10.00am and will leisurely cruise  past Pulau Tikus island, Tanjung Bungah, Floating Mosque, Batu Feringghi and Teluk Bahang Fishing Villages.  The cruise will return at approximately 3.30pm. The cruise will then disembark into a smaller boat to spend some time at Monkey Beach. After which, there will be a BBQ on the boat and then back to the Marina.
