Balkan Rhythms at the Penang World Music Festival 2014

In partnership with the Government of Sofia, Bulgaria, the third installment of the Penang World Music Festival will also feature Balkan folk band, “Bulgara” from Bulgaria. Bulgara uses drum, bass, funk and intertwines with with Jungle, rock, jazz and folk instruments to create the harmonic beauty of Bulgarian folklore. Founded in 2002, Bulgara have received many local and international acknowledgments, including the Askeer Theatre Award including original score for the theater performance The Divas, after Nikolay Haytov. The band’s music is also featured in the film “Beyond the Line”.

Penang – CIMB 29th Women’s World Championships

Temple of Fine Arts presents “Rang Ta Rang”
Date: 29th & 30th March 2014
Venue: 29th March – Temple of Fine Arts, Babington Avenue (8.00pm) / 30th March –  Penang PAC, Straits Quay (3pm- 5pm; 7.30pm)

The Temple of Fine Arts Penang will be organizing a series of concerts this coming 29th and 30th March 2014.

On the 29th of March, experience Indian Classical Music through the Temple of Fine Arts Orchestra comprising of dedicated and talented group of students and music tutors of TFA. The musical compositions, arrangements and orchestrations of these pieces brings together musicians from various backgrounds including instrumentalists playing a wide range of instruments like Sitar, Violin, Guitar, Flute, Tabla, Pakhawaja and many more. The performance will be happening at the Temple of Fine Arts, Babington Avenue.

Penang ranked as top 10 Selfiest City in the World

Recently, TIME online did a survey to determine the top 100 “Selfiest City in the World”, using photos downloaded from Instagram that included geographic coordinates and with the tag “Selfie”. Photos downloaded within that particular time frame showed that in George Town, there are 95 selfie-takers per 100,000 people, placing the city at number 10 out of a total of 459 cities.
