 It is the time of the year again for the action packed and exhilarating Penang International Lion Dance On Stilts Competition 2014 as 22 teams from all over Malaysia, Philippines , Hong Kong, Singapore, China, Vietnam and Indonesia it out for the championship title with their most creative and original lion dance on stilts performance.

Hari Gawai is a festival celebrate by the Dayak community in Sarawak. Hari Gawai has become  a symbol of unity, aspiration and hope for the Dayak community. Today, it is an integral part of the Dayak social life. It is a thanksgiving day marking a bountiful harvest and a time to plan for the new farming season or other endeavors ahead. Hari Gawai will be celebrated on 1st June 2014.

L.A.B.  featuring Michaela Theres Listen And Believe a.k.a. L.A.B. was formed in September 2012. It was born out of a love for limitless experimentation and open examination in music. There are many variables, but the one constant is Soul.

Within this spirit of the “laboratory”, the band created their sound and put their code on some of their most-loved tunes. Their original material is heavily influenced by Soul, Neo-Soul, Funk, Hip-Hop and Jazz with haunting melodies laden with improvisations riding on top of driving bass and drum grooves.

A touch of nostalgia can be had through Louis Gan’s second solo art exhibition of Penang’s heritage streets in watercolours titled ‘Nostalgic Penang’ at Galeri Seni Mutiara until May 25. OMG! Books, Arts and Crafts Fair is on at Island Plaza with exciting local products and services from May 23 to June 1.
