Brazil is about to make entry much easier for Australians and the country’s Minister for Tourism, Marx Beltrão, is due in Sydney on Friday 17 November 2017 to announce details.

The secret is a new electronic visa. Australian citizens planning to visit Brazil will soon be able to apply for their visas online and receive a response within 72 hours.

As a tourism destination, Brazil is big on adventure and eco-tourism – both eagerly desired by Australian travellers.

According to the Competitiveness Study of the World Economic Forum, Brazil ranks number one for natural attractions and eighth worldwide for cultural resources. Brazil’s greatest treasures include the Amazon River, World Heritage-listed Iguazu Falls and Rio’s towering Christ the Redeemer monument.

Visitors to Brazil are impressed by the warmth of the Brazilian people – a characteristic which Tourism Minister Beltrão notes was showcased to the world during Brazil’s hosting of the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Olympic Games.

“Brazil and Australia are very similar”, Beltrão points out. “The climate, the passion for sports and the social hospitality make us sister nations. [In hosting] these mega events, we showcased to the world not only our main attractions but also our joy of living.”

Online visa facilitation is one of many steps the Brazilian Government is taking to strengthen ties between the two countries.

As Beltrão says: “[Our] two countries have everything to gain from the intensification of the flow of tourists.”

Visitors love Brazil. A research study conducted in 2016 among 37,000 international tourists showed a 98% approval rating of the country, with 95% intending to return.

The new electronic visa means one less obstacle for Aussies wanting to enjoy what Brazil has to offer.
