Viva Energy Australia (“Viva Energy”) today launched its aviation business at an event held at Avalon Airport in Victoria.

Over the space of two months, the Viva Energy brand and products are being introduced at more than 50 airports across Australia including Avalon Airport where Viva Energy is the exclusive supplier of jet fuel. This launch will include two new Viva Energy aviation products at Avalon Airport:

• FFuueell22SSkkyy ccaarrdd: A card to enable our customers to refuel more easily and faster

• JJeett PPlluuss: Our addivated jet fuel designed to eliminate problems associated with the build-up of water in fuel tanks.

Viva Energy CEO, Scott Wyatt said at the Avalon launch event, “Viva Energy is excited to expand its aviation business to more than 50 airports around Australia following the acquisition of the Aviation business from Shell in 2017.

“This investment in our aviation business further demonstrates our commitment to growing our business in Australia and supporting our valued airline customers.”

Viva Energy manufactures high quality aviation fuels at the Geelong Refinery and is Australia’s largest supplier of jet fuel by volume, with a presence at 52 airports and airfields across the country.

“The Geelong Refinery produces 100% of Avalon Airport’s jet fuel. In fact, every second flight out of Victoria takes off with our locally supplied jet fuel which accounts for about 10% of all our refinery’s production. A safe and reliable fuel supply is not only essential for Australian airlines and regional airports, but it is also an important contributor to the local economy and for local jobs.“As demand for jet fuel continues to grow with an

increase in both domestic and international air travel we have made significant infrastructure investments to ensure we are able to provide our customers with diversity and security of supply.

“In Victoria alone, we have invested more than $20 million to increase the amount of fuel we can transport by pipeline from our refinery at Geelong by 25% and we have also completed a $4 million upgrade to our fuel gantry at the refinery to enable jet fuel to be trucked directly to Avalon Airport to improve our supply chain capacity and reliability,” Mr Wyatt said.

Viva Energy is also currently building a new jet fuel tank at Newport Terminal which will nearly double the storage capacity for jet fuel at the terminal and further add to supply security for Victoria.

Attending the event at Avalon Airport was Sarah Henderson, the Federal Member for Corangamite and the Hon Richard Marles, Federal Member for Corio.

Commenting from the launch Ms Henderson said, “Passengers flying out of Avalon Airport should be proud that when they take off it is with locally supplied jet fuel, most of it made right here in Geelong.

“Viva Energy plays a critical role in supplying jet fuel to Avalon Airport which is a major driver of economic activity for Geelong and set to be boosted further once AirAsia starts operating international services from Avalon later this year,” Ms Henderson said.

The Hon Richard Marles commented that Viva Energy’s significant investment at the Geelong Refinery demonstrated their commitment to regional Victoria which includes the important aviation market “Viva Energy’s ongoing investment is a vote of confidence in the growth of the region that will continue to deliver local jobs.

“Their investment in the Geelong Refinery and associated infrastructure projects to provide reliable fuel supply and refuelling services to some of Australia’s busiest airports is good news for the region and indeed the nation,” Mr Marles said.
