Hong Kong’s eclectic Spanish restaurant, Alzina Spanish Asador, invites epicureans in the city to “Viva La Vida!” (Live Life) with its enticing new brunch. Launched on 11 March, the tantalising brunch promises to take diners on a weekend getaway to the heart of Spain, where Chef Juanjo Carrillo charms with an extensive semi-buffet menu featuring the restaurant’s signature dishes and new specialities.
To complement the relaxing brunch mood and truly embrace the spirit of “Viva la Vida!”, a live DJ station sets the atmosphere of the brunch with catchy rhythms of various themes, from “Spanish” to “Latina” to a good old “Throwback to the 80’s.” Diners are guaranteed to be inspired to live the weekend to its fullest with passionate Spanish energy surging through the restaurant.
During the weekend brunch diners are treated to several semi-buffet dining stations, each of which seduces the palate with exciting flavours. A cold station samples Spain’s well-known and loved cold cuts and cheeses, from Handcrafted Iberico Cebo Ham, Serrano Ham and Iberico Chorizo to Pan Con Tomate (Tomato Bread with Garlic and Olive Oil) and Manchego Cheese. Homemade salads complement the lush meats and cheeses on offer with crisp freshness.
Brunch staple, “Huevos” (Eggs), is introduced at a dedicated station, where diners can choose from a selection of skilfully curated egg dishes that are not the typical brunch eggs. Savour quintessential Spain with Spanish Tortilla or Donosti Tortilla with Peppers and Codfish, or the unconventional “Huevos Rotos” (Broken Eggs) made with roast potatoes and chorizo while “Huevos Rellenos” offers a healthy alternative of boiled eggs filled with tuna. The classic Eggs Benedict with Smoked Salmon and Spinach are also great choices for traditionalists.
A collection of hot items showcase Chef Carrillo’s favourite tempt with dishes such as Spanish Paella of the Day, Garlic Chili Prawns, Fresh Mussels “A La Marinera”, Fresh Clams “En Salsa Verde” and many more, offering food connoisseurs a vast selection of mouth-watering options with authentic Spanish flavours.
Diners with a penchant for seafood can order Mediterranean Red Prawns in Garlic Sauce at an additional HK$55 or Fresh Daily Oysters at market price.
Eight signature main course options are cooked in Chef Carrillo’s authentic style of cooking with highlights including Our Crispy Suckling Pig, Grilled Iberico Pork Ribs, New Zealand Lamb Rack, Grilled Spanish Quails, and Grilled Octopus with Chimichurri Sauce. Grilled USA Rib-eyes are available to order at an extra HK$120.
Assorted desserts featuring Spanish favourites such as Churros, Creamy Caramel Pudding, Alzina Lollipops, Baked Cheese Cake Spanish Style, Ice Cream, and Red Fruits are served to tables at the end of the meal.
Throughout the Easter weekend (15 and 16 April), a special Easter bunny-shaped chocolate egg will be given to each table, one of which contains a special prize, and the winner of this prize will enjoy their brunch free of charge. Children will also be amused and fully engrossed with the clown’s balloon animals in between Spanish bites.
Priced at HK$398 for adults and HK$112 for children between 3 to 11, Alzina’s brunch offers two free flow beverage options, for adults at an additional HK$128 where Cava, Classic Sangria, Red or White wines can be enjoyed with the meal; or HK$68 for unlimited orange juice and soft drinks.
