There were plenty of tables, but no cards, no croupiers and no dice it was a Las Vegas getting to know you and your product function at Sydney’s Westin Hotel.
More than 160 Australian travel agents and media joined the Las Vegas Convention and Visitor Authority (LVCVA) and accommodation and entertainment providers last week, to understand why Vegas is regarded as the ‘Entertainment Capital of the World’ and attracts over 41.1 million visitors each year.
Dancing girls and the unmistakable sound of the King, Elvis Presley singing Viva Las Vegas greeted guests as they entered the ballroom.
The evening marked the first event for the 2015 LVCVA Australia and New Zealand Trade Roadshow and ensured the week long roadshow went off with a bang in true Vegas style.
Highlights of the night included a humorous and personal insight into Las Vegas from travel writing colleague, Ben Groundwater, acrobatic performances by Adagio Act, industry networking and an abundance of prizes.
Peter Duncan from Aqua Travel Group was the lucky winner of the major prize, a holiday for two to fabulous Las Vegas including flights with United Airlines, accommodation and entertainment.
The LVCVA was joined by 10 key partners including Travel Nevada, Caesars Entertainment, Cirque Du Soleil, (they have eight shows in Vegas mostly in the MGM properties) Exotics Racing, Graceland Wedding Chapel, Machine Guns Vegas, Maverick Aviation Group, MGM Resorts, Miracle Mile Shops and Papillion.
Australia is the number two source of overseas travellers to Las Vegas attracting more than 350,000 travellers in 2014 (this excludes Canada and Mexico).
