Volaris Airlines has announced it will begin a new international route between Chicago O’Hare International Airport and Monterrey International Airport with twice-weekly service starting on June 17, 2016.
This will be the Mexico-based carrier’s first nonstop transborder (U.S.-Mexico) service from the city of Monterrey, Mexico.
The service will use an Airbus A320 aircraft configured with seating for 179 passengers and will operate on Monday and Friday. The flight from Chicago will depart at 11:15 a.m. and arrive in Monterrey at 2:44 p.m. The flight from Monterrey will depart at 6:45 a.m. and arrive in Chicago at 10 a.m.
Volaris Airlines operates at both O’Hare and Midway International Airports, and will offer nonstop service from Chicago to seven destinations in Mexico with the addition of the Monterrey service. Volaris started service at Midway in 2010 with daily service to Guadalajara. The carrier expanded its presence in Chicago with flights from O’Hare in 2013.
