Volcanoes Safaris Appoints Eloisa Barberis Canonico as Director of Sales & Marketing

 Volcanoes Safaris is pleased to announce the appointment of Eloisa Barberis Canonico as their new Director of Sales & Marketing. 

Eloisa has worked with Volcanoes Safaris since 2015 and is responsible for the strategic direction of the company’s international marketing and public relations activities, as well as building and maintaining strong relationships with their trade partners.

A graduate of Bocconi University in Business and Economics, Eloisa completed her MSc in Management at the Grenoble Graduate School of Business, after which she worked in the sales team at the prestigious Fairmont Raffles Hotels International as well as the UK’s leading marketing, sales & PR agency Mason Rose.

In terms of Eloisa’s long term vision, she commented that “My long- term goal is to ensure Volcanoes Safaris is recognized as the leading luxury gorilla and chimpanzee company in Rwanda and Uganda, offering guests beautiful accommodation that is eco-friendly yet still luxurious, and which considerably gives back to wildlife conservation as well as local communities–not just financially, but through long term sustainable initiatives.“

Volcanoes Safaris has been at the forefront of reviving gorilla and chimpanzee tourism in Uganda and Rwanda since 1997.  Over twenty years ago, Volcanoes Safaris was the first international company to set up simple camps in the areas around the gorilla parks.  Today, with four lodges to their name, Volcanoes Safaris is the leading luxury lodge company in Uganda and Rwanda.

In 2017, Volcanoes Safaris launched a strategic program to re-imagine all aspects of their lodges: design, style, the guest experience, food and service, lodge and safari activities, and guest participation in community and conservation projects. This program has required significant investment and has already seen a major transformation of the lodges, which is due to be completed by 2020.
