Waikiki Beach Walk® Announces Return of Na Mele No Na Pua Sunday Showcase, Feb.16

Waikiki Beach Walk, Hawaii’s most exciting entertainment complex to shop, dine, play and stay, is set to bring back its popular monthly Na Mele No Na Pua Sunday Showcase concert series.

KUMUKAHI Ipo IMAGEKicking off on Sunday, February 16, the concert will feature renowned entertainer Ku‘uipo Kumukahi and Na Lani ‘Eha Band. The free concert series will treat music lovers to live music performances every third Sunday of the month from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Waikiki Beach Walk Plaza Stage.

“We are thrilled to continue to celebrate Hawaii’s incredible talents with the re-launch of our Na Mele No Na Pua Sunday Showcase,” said Conchita Malaqui, general manager of Waikiki Beach Walk. “We invite kamaaina and visitors alike to come and enjoy the music of the islands.”

Na Mele No Na Pua, or “Music for the Generations,” is sponsored in part by Outrigger Enterprises Group and underscores the company’s long-standing commitment to preserving and sharing Hawaii’s rich cultural heritage with visitors and local residents.

In its kick-off concert, the Na Mele No Na Pua Sunday Showcase will welcome to the stage musician Ku‘uipo Kumukahi and Na Lani ‘Eha Band.

Ku`uipo is often referred to as “The Sweetheart of Hawaiian music.” An island artist deeply rooted in Hawaiian traditions and values, Ku`uipo has traveled throughout the state, the nation and abroad sharing Hawaiian music. She is a self-taught musician influenced by family songs, Hawaiian singers and her parents. Ku`uipo learned to play the `ukulele at a young age and through encouragement learned to play the guitar and bass as well. A multiple Na Hoku Hanohano Award winner, twice as Female Vocalist of the Year, Ku`uipo is guided by her mission of producing, preserving, perpetuating and promoting quality in Hawaiian music and the music of Hawaii.

Upcoming Na Mele No Na Pua Sunday Showcase performances will feature:

  • Sunday, March 16 – Del Beasly and Friends
  • Sunday, April 20 – Ledward Kaapana
  • Sunday, May 18 – Marlene Sai and Ken Makuakane 

Concert goers can park with ease, as valet parking for up to four hours is available for $6.00 at the Embassy Suites-Waikiki Beach Walk (201 Beachwalk) and the Wyndham Vacation Ownership-Waikiki Beach Walk (227 Lewers Street), with any same-day purchase and validation from any Waikiki Beach Walk establishment.
