TAITRA’S Executive Vice President Walter Yeh has been elected as the new president of TECA (Taiwan Exhibition and Conference Association) in the 3rd Board re-election of its General Assembly on August 5.

The Assembly, convened at the TICC in Taipei, also elected three TECA vice presidents; Hubert Duh, Executive Director of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd., organizing Secutech Expo Taiwan, the only security manufacturing show in Taiwan; Kitty Wong, President of K&A International Co., the most notable PCO in Taiwan; and Victor Chou, General Manager of Kuei Jung Exhibition Co, one of the most well-known B2C PEOs in Taiwan.

The newly elected Yeh stated that he will build upon the foundations established by former President Tiger Lin who strove to improve the dynamics of the association by providing excellence services to members, expanding the MICE industry and consolidating international competitiveness.
TECA was founded in 2008, with robust support from those in such industries as professional exhibition organizers (PEOs), professional conference organizers (PCOs), venues, official service contractors, forwarders, advertising, public relations, design and travel. The organization has more than 125 members organized in more than 800 oversea exhibiting groups.

The mission of TECA, along with MEET TAIWAN, is to broaden international trade and promote Taiwan economic development by developing connections and cohesion within the MICE industry and to assist government to establish consistent exhibition policies. Such work is particularly effective since TECA has accumulated years of experience in using hardware and software to support various MICE projects as shown by Taiwan being the fastest growing exhibition market in Asia with net space sold increasing by nearly 14% compared with the overall Asia average of 6.6% in 2013 (UFI “The Trade Fair Industry in Asia 2014”). Also, there were 122 international conferences held in Taiwan, ranked 7th in Asia. (ICCA Statistics Report)

Yeh is also a member on the UFI (The Global Association of the Exhibition Industry) Board of Directors as well as the UFI Marketing Committee, Chairperson of the CEM (Certified in Exhibition Management) Local Advisory Board and is an Advisor to AFECA (Asian Federation of Exhibition and Convention Associations). The new TECA president also served as president of the Taiwan Pavilion at 2010 Shanghai EXPO and as the convener of the TAITRA Project Office at 2010 Taipei International Flora Expo.

Yeh aims to build upon TECA’s glowing track record of helping government to counsel Taiwan industry and for invigorating the Taiwan MICE industry. Another mission is to promote Taiwan as Asia’s ideal destination for international exhibitions and conferences and to expand business opportunities in the MICE industry.
