Watermark Appoints Elite Representation to Expand Conference & Leisure Markets

Two of Southeast Queensland’s iconic leisure and business travel destinations, Watermark Hotel & Spa Gold Coast and Watermark Hotel Brisbane, recently partnered with Elite Representation Asia Pacific Pty Ltd, forming a strategic alliance to expand Watermark’s meetings, incentives, conference and exhibition (MICE) business nationally, and to New Zealand markets.

Elite Representation will play a pivotal role in raising the profile of the Watermark properties, and promoting their diverse conference and event capabilities in two of the Sunshine State’s most sought-after locations.

The appointment has been welcomed by Deputy Area General Manager at Watermark, Jane Kingston, who believes their highly successful 18-year history of hosting major conferences and events, combined with the proven track record of Elite Representation, will significantly enhance their status as a key player in the region’s MICE markets.

“Elite Representation brings a wealth of industry knowledge, contacts and wide-ranging expertise that spans business development and sales and marketing to MICE markets.

“Working with associations and PCOs locally and internationally, Elite Representation will be responsible for securing new business and growing our existing client base,” said Ms Kingston.

Elite Representation promote an atmosphere of cooperation and shared goals, rather than the traditional model of the client-agency relationship, a premise Ms Kingston said aligns with Watermark’s visionary approach to their MICE business.

“We strive to offer flexibility and freedom, rather than conformity across the board for conferences and events at our properties.

“We realise every business is different; they have different wants, needs, drivers and motivators, and ultimately end-goals.

“Gone are the days of the ‘one-size-fits-all approach’ to conferences and events.

“We welcome those who want to go that extra mile to impress, surprise or delight their delegates or guests and we are happy to assist in any way we can,” said Ms Kingston.

Travel and Corporate partners in the key markets of Sydney and Melbourne will benefit from having greater awareness through the combined trade activities of Elite Representation and Watermark associates.

Elite Representation Sales Director Pat Monneron said she and her team are delighted to be supporting the Watermark properties in achieving their goal of greater support from the MICE and corporate travel segment.

“Our existing relationships with corporate and MICE travel partners, coupled with being accessible locally in the market, will ensure Watermark is recognised as a premier venue for business and meetings clients.”

The expansion of Watermark’s sales force aligns with recent upgrades and contemporary refurbishments at Watermark Gold Coast, and plans on the drawing board for Watermark Brisbane.

The ground floor bars and lounges at Watermark Hotel & Spa Gold Coast have become edgy social spaces, with interior design and décor that embrace the Gold Coast’s rich heritage. The new areas offer a stylish and relaxed ambience, perfectly suited to corporate get-togethers, post-conference events, drinks and dinners.

Watermark has also recruited a formidable team of chefs, assembling some of the finest culinary talent in Australia to cater for restaurant, banquet and event dining.

Ms Kingston said Watermark Gold Coast’s location in the heart of the Surfers Paradise holiday and business precinct has always been one of their most desirable attributes for MICE and leisure tourism markets.

“Most of our 388 rooms at Watermark Gold Coast offer panoramic views, and the property is just a few minute’s stroll to the beach, shopping centres and entertainment.

“The added convenience of the G:Link light rail station right at the door makes Watermark Gold Coast readily accessible to the Convention Centre and other key attractions to the north and south of Surfers Paradise,” said Ms Kingston.

Watermark Hotel & Spa Gold Coast caters for up to 300 conference delegates or guests in a theatre-style setting, up to 400 for cocktail parties or 220 for sit-down banquets.

Located at Spring Hill, just 10 minutes’ walk from the CBD, Watermark Hotel Brisbane is suited to meetings and boutique conferences, with 94 guest rooms and meeting and event space to cater for up to 100 delegates in a theatre-style setting or 120 for sit-down banquets.
