Wave of New Restaurants Puts Newport Beach, CA on the Culinary Map

Newport Beach, CA is welcoming an incredible influx of exciting restaurants by celebrity chefs and acclaimed restaurant groups. Restaurants are slated to open during holiday 2013 to late 2014.

Adding to the already thriving dining scene in Newport Beach are the following:

RED O – Celebrity chef Rick Bayless, innovator of modern Mexican cuisine, brings RED O to Fashion Island in Newport Beach. Featuring authentic Mexican food with a lighter California style, RED O will offer a menu of classic Mexican dishes and seasonal plates, a style not the norm for Mexican cuisine. FIG & OLIVE – The Newport Beach Fig & Olive joins an exclusive family of restaurants, with other outposts in New York and West Hollywood. The EGT_Artical Banner A 250x250stunning 12,000-square-foot dining destination will introduce diners to the refined flavors of the coastal regions along the French Riviera by Executive Chef Pascal Lorange. At FIG & OLIVE Newport Beach, guests will partake in a unique dining experience based on the restaurant’s focal component: olive oil. Diners will also enjoy a diverse selection of wines from the South of France, Spain, and Italy, alongside a selection of fresh, handmade cocktails. In addition, FIG & OLIVE Melrose Place will offer a large collection of extra virgin olive oils for purchase, which diners can take home after sampling at the restaurant. Lemonade – At Lemonade, Chef and Restaurateur Alan Jackson takes diners back to basics with elevated Southern California comfort food, including white truffle macaroni and cheese, buttermilk chicken breast, and traditional pot roast. Lark Creek Newport Beach – The award-winning San Francisco-based Lark Creek Restaurant Group opens its first Orange County restaurant, offering with Chef John Ledbetter’s menu of seasonally influenced dishes including wood-fired steaks, fish, artisanal cocktails, mock-tails and pastas. Blue C Sushi – Blue C Sushi first opened in 2003 in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle. Under the culinary leadership of Jeffrey Lunak, Blue C Sushi’s Vice President – Culinary and former protégé of Iron Chef Morimoto, Blue C Sushi sets the benchmark in innovation, sustainable practices, quality and value. Provenance – Provenance brings seasonal, local and responsible ingredients into every plate. Executive Chef Cathy Pavlos describes her menu of contemporary California cuisine as Napa-esque. The restaurant will incorporate ingredients that will be grown in the restaurant’s 1,300 s.f.-organic, raised-bed garden. Even items cocktails will receive the fresh, seasonal approach, including raspberries and mint that can be muddled for signature drinks. Opening Late 2013.

The Winery Restaurant & Wine Bar – Partners JC Clow, William Lewis and Chef Yvon Goetz have created quite a stir by successfully pairing contemporary California regional cuisine, with a hip, vibrant, sophisticated setting. The restaurant is located on Pacific Coast Highway with Newport Harbor views. The menu will focus on contemporary California regional cuisine at its finest and delivers a culinary experience straight from the Wine Country. Opening Late 2013. thewineryrestaurant.net.

CUCINA Enoteca – CUCINA Enoteca from recognized culinary proprietor and restaurateur Tracy Borkum will open a modern Italian kitchen-meets-rustic farmhouse concept at Fashion Island. The restaurant will also present guests with the unique and highly curated “restaurant to retail” environment found in their existing locations, offering diners nearly everything for sale within the new location, including the customized furniture, lighting and decor.
