June 26, 2017 Whats On No Comments Email Email

Hunting for things to do with the kids this winter? Good news! Keeping busy and entertained as the weather gets colder doesn’t have to cost a fortune.

No one wants bored kiddies complaining of nothing to do during the winter season, and no parent wants to constantly be coming up with ways to entertain the kids. So here are a few creative, fun and winter themed activities that are sure to be a hit with the whole family:

SNOW TIME IN THE GARDEN

Hunter Valley Garden’s ‘Snow Time in the Garden  is a winter wonderland with a huge range of activities for children of all ages, including real ice tobogganing, ice skating, a play zone to create snowmen and snow angels and rides on the Gardens’ new Carousel. Plus for just a few extra dollars enjoy the HVG Super Slide and the brand new Ferris Wheel and Swing Chairs.

This spectacular winter fair is located in the Hunter Valley; an easy two-hour drive from Sydney CBD, meaning children will love the snow themed fun, without having to travel too far. The event runs from Saturday June 24th until Sunday July 16th, for more information visit http://www.huntervalleygardens.com.au/hvg/snow-time-in-the-garden/. This classic activity is always a fun time for kids. Ice skating is available at various locations, and is a great way to keep the little ones active during the holidays too. The average cost for ice skating is $23 for children under 16 years old and $25 for adults.

BOWLING

For those days that are a little too chilly, bowling is always a hit. It will provide endless hours of entertainment. Bowling is available at various locations, with many of them also offering additional fun options such as laser tag. Average prices start at $17 for 1 game for adults and $14 for children, not including shoe hire. Laser tag will cost you around $20 per person on average for 3 games.

MOVIES AND HOT CHOCOLATE IN YOUR HOMEMADE FORT

Don’t want to leave the house? Create the best hideaway right at home with lots of cushions and blankets. Have fun building the ultimate fort in front of the TV, grab a cup of hot chocolate, and pick their favourite movies. Just like that, you have an afternoon full of cozy entertainment. This will cost you close to nothing, just your creativity.

BOARD GAMES DAY

Keep children entertained the old-fashion way by pulling the board games out of the closet. Grown-ups will feel like kids again when they teach the little ones their old favourite childhood games. Depending on whether you have a few oldie but goodies, or if purchase a new twist on your all-time favourite, you can decide how much you want to spend on this activity.
