Finland is an increasingly popular tourism destination for Chinese travellers and the experience of the celebrities on “We Are in Love” showcases some of the amazing experiences and breathtaking landscapes that draw more and more Chinese travellers to Finland. Viewers of the show are sure to be inspired by the uniquely Finnish destinations and activities as much as they are by the couple’s adorable romance. The three episodes were filmed in Rovaniemi, the Official Hometown of Santa Claus in March 2016.
In episode 6, the couple goes on a “Lapland Safari”, starting with an exciting husky sleigh ride allowing them to experience remote areas not accessible by car. The couple learned to guide a team of dogs for an exhilarating high-speed ride that had them laughing, screaming, and singing with excitement. The sleigh ride was followed by an ice-fishing experience on top of a frozen lake where the couple tried out their outdoors skills, drilling through the thick ice and even succeeding in catching a small fish before being surprised by the arrival of Santa Claus on a reindeer-led sleigh.
The couple enjoyed a heart-to-heart conversation with Santa before going on to spend a romantic evening chatting the night away in a unique glass igloo hotel featuring a glass-domed ceiling allowing them to enjoy the very special aurora borealis in the night sky. The Northern Lights are one of the most astonishing natural phenomena in the world and lucky visitors to Finland can see the sky dancing with deep green and yellow colours, sometimes streaked with bands of red.
In episode 7, the couple fully experiences the tradition of Sauna. Finland is the land of the sauna and the Finns are a nation of sauna-enthusiasts. Finland has a population of 5.4 million and about 2 million saunas — one for every three inhabitants. Bobo and Momo took the experience seriously and tried it the authentic way, even hitting themselves with a birch whisk for circulation and chilling themselves in an ice cold lake afterwards.
Only in Finland can you meet Santa, his elves and reindeer year round at the Santa Claus Village in Rovaniemi, Lapland. Bobo and Momo are given the chance to enroll in the Santa Park Elf School, where they’re taught the fun and loving skills and secrets of the elves and they have the chance to send special letters from Santa’s Post Office.
Bobo described his experience in Finland so far as one of a kind, “I’ve been in a lot of movies, but never seen such an amazing view as this.” Similarly, Momo has compared her time in Finland to “the feeling of being in a beautiful dream”. Viewers of the show have also been enraptured by the scenes of Finland and the locations and activities featured on “We Are in Love” are expecting a boost in Chinese tourists inspired by the fun and excitement of Bobo & Momo’s Finnish adventure. Tour operators are already designing tour packages centred around their itinerary.
One more episode featuring their Finnish experiences is still yet to air this coming Sunday, May 8th.
