A well-known specialist wholesaler that prided itself on creating “uniquely immersive travel experiences” has gone into liquidation after 39 years of operation.

The directors of South Australia-based Venture Far have placed the company into liquidation.

A statement from the company said: “Venture Far regrets to advise that after 39 years of operation we have appointed Liquidators and placed the company into liquidation. The costs and challenges of being a boutique wholesaler, operating in a high price drive, low margin industry have proven to be too large to overcome.”

The operation was previously known as Venture Holidays, which was rebranded as Venture Far. Major changes were undertaken alongside the rebranding but the company said that while improvements flowed from these changes “it has proven not to be enough”.https://www.lagunaphuket.com/mice/

The Australian Federation of Travel Agents (AFTA) stated yesterday it had taken action “to terminate the ATAS travel accredited status of The Trustee for Venture Holidays SA Unit Trust trading as Venture Far”.

The company’s website was still operating last night but sales, marketing and product operations have ceased, though some reservations staff are helping the liquidators assist agents with inquiries regarding outstanding bookings.

AFTA issued contact details for the liquidator, as follows:

AFTA stated: “The circumstances of the bookings are yet to be known, however, any travel agents who have bookings with Venture Far and are participants in the AFTA Chargeback Scheme (ACS) may be able to make a claim subject to participation commencement.

“AFTA is advising consumers and travel agents who have been impacted to invoke a chargeback if payments were made by credit card. They should also contact local Police to commence criminal charges against the principles, where payments and deposits had been paid for future travel that will now not be able to be taken.”
