Westminster attack: impact on travel to the UK

The impact of the attack in central London on Wednesday on future travel to the UK will be carefully monitored by ForwardKeys, which predicts travel patterns by analysing 16m booking transactions a day.

As the data emerges, ForwardKeys aims to produce a picture of air traveller reaction around the world.

ForwardKeys CEO, Olivier Jager, said on Thursday (March 23): “The true picture is not yet clear. It will take at least a week to draw initial conclusions.”

ForwardKeys’ latest figures show that international arrivals in London for the year to date (Jan 1 to March 21) are up 6% compared to last year, long-haul are up 7%.

Bookings for arrivals in London over the next three months (March 21 to June 20) are currently running 21% ahead of where they were at the equivalent time last year for long haul and 20% ahead for all international flights. These figures may reflect people booking earlier than last year rather than growth in the market, and could flatten out later.

ForwardKeys will provide further information as the situation develops.
