Historic Cass House Re-Opens, Cayucos
Dating back to the 1800s, the Cass House was renovated in 2008. The House had closed its doors the last few years and has now re-opened its intimate guest House (Inn), Venue, Bakery and Grill. The House features five elegantly decorated guest rooms. Guests can step into the Bakery kitchen, starting at 7am, to pick from a selection of baked goods warm off the rack. The Grill at the Cass House offers a menu using selectively sourced ingredients from the bounty of the Central Coast. Guests are invited to gather in the pavilion and enjoy a meal prepared with seasonal ingredients complemented by the flavors of their wood burning hearth.
456 Embarcadero Inn & Suites Remodel, Morro Bay
The newly remodeled Inn features a brightened interior and exterior, introduces boutique lodging aspects and creates cozy seaside rooms, while carefully preserving the warm, family feeling that has kept guests happy and returning for years. The Holiday Inn Express announces the expansion of an additional 1,400 square feet of meeting/event space, and the opening of a new restaurant and bar June 2016! SLO Brew Expands and Adds The Lofts and The Rock, San Luis Obispo
This year, SLO Brew moved and expanded, and is now composed of three venues, The Brew, The Rock and The Lofts, giving the community more options for entertainment, accommodations, dining and hanging out. While The Brew maintains its local spirit by serving up gastropub fare with its intimate shows, The Rock offers expanded brewing capacities, event spaces, a tasting room and a restaurant. Perched directly above The Brew, The Lofts feature contemporary one-, two-and three-bedroom suites.
NEW Little Tree Brewing Opens in Grover Beach
The new startup, Little Tree Brewing is open Friday to Sundays, pouring tasters, pints and growlers of West Coast-style beers brewed with East Coast yeast sourced from an old New Jersey brewery. The team invested about $100,000 in brewing equipment, including 1-barrel kettles and 3-barrel fermenters with the ability to brew up to 25 barrels of craft beer.
Barrelhouse Brewing Co. (BHBC) Opens in Downtown San Luis Obispo
January 8th, 2016, marked another chapter in BHBC history, introducing the BarrelHouse Speakeasy. Step through the street level front door and follow the stairway down as you transcend into the prohibition era. The BHBC Speakeasy features year-round offerings, draft specialties, as well as highly sought after Reservado De Robles Barrel-Aged Beers and Salvaje De Robles Sour and Wild Ales.
Re:Find Distillery Has Big Plans for Paso Robles’ Historic Fox Theatre
After being vacant for three decades, the historic Fox Theatre will soon be the new home of Re:Find Distillery. The owners of Re:Find Distillery and Villicana Winery purchased the theatre with a vision to restore it into a distilled spirits tasting room, production facility and possibly a restaurant or club member lounge. Reclaiming and restoring the building not only fit perfectly into the Re:Find mission – finding new ways to use discarded materials – it will also be a passion project for the couple reviving a part of Paso’s history. The renovation is anticipated to take two to three years to complete.
NEW Bethel Rd. Distillery, Paso Robles
Bethel Rd. Distillery and Winery will be opening in Templeton, CA in 2016. The business is currently in the final stages of construction with hopes to be open in the fall. Bethel Rd. specializes in small-batch hand crafted wines and spirits with an emphasis on Grappa and Brandy. Once open, the tasting room will feature wine and spirit tastings in an inviting and inspiring atmosphere.

Lone Madrone Offers A New Private Tasting Experience, Paso Robles
Lone Madrone Winery, located in the Adelaida District on the Westside of Paso Robles Wine Country, launched its new private tasting experience. Available by appointment only, guests will enjoy six (6) wines during the guided tastings, which features specific vineyards, library wines and the unique varieties championed by winemaker, Neil Collins. Halter Ranch Vineyard Opens New Tasting Room
Halter Ranch, located in the Adelaida District of Paso Robles Wine Country opened its new tasting room featuring sweeping views of the vineyard with floor to ceiling windows. The design is driven from local rustic cabins and barns and incorporates various uses of wood, cedar siding and rusty metal roofing. The Ancestor Room is a private tasting space named after the property’s largest Coastal Live Oak on record. The back patio features an exterior seating area adjacent to large doors that lead to the caves and winery. The tasting room is open daily, 11am – 5pm. Vineyard tours and tasting experiences are available by appointment.
Niner Wine Estates Opens Chef’s Garden
Niner Wine Estates is a 100% estate grown winery with a restaurant that is obsessive about ingredient sourcing. In 2016 owners planted a Chef’s Garden with the long-term goal of providing the Restaurant with 100% of its produce needs, while using the smallest footprint possible. The garden is designed and planted with space and water efficiency, biodiversity and sustainability in mind.
Breakaway Tours Offers Paso Robles Distillery Tours

NEW Pismo Preserve to Open in Fall 2016 Adventure awaits at the Pismo Preserve! The 900+ acre coastal ranch land has been forever preserved for the community and wildlife benefit by the Land Conservancy of SLO County. Nearly 11 miles of new and expanded trails have been constructed for hiking, mounting biking and equestrian use, offering sweeping views of the coastline from Point Sal to Point San Luis and amazing inland views of Edna Valley. The property opens to the public late 2016.
NEW Docent-Led Tours at the Monday Club, San Luis Obispo
The Monday Club SLO, established in 1925, is a dedicated group of women serving the community of SLO and maintaining the historic, Julia Morgan designed building. The Club is now offering docent-led tours every Monday from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Here, visitors have the opportunity to tour one of the architectural gems of the City of San Luis Obispo.
Cow Parade Comes to San Luis Obispo County
A stampede is headed to San Luis Obispo County! The world’s largest public art exhibit is coming to SLO County. Over 75 cities and 200 million people worldwide have participated in CowParade, one of the most successful art endeavors ever. Artists have until August 2016 to finish their creations and in September 2016, the cows go on parade! A CowParade Map will guide visitors to view 101 cows stationed throughout SLO County. In May 2017, the cows will be auctioned, with proceeds benefitting The Land Conservancy of SLO County, ArtsObispo and the Heritage Foundation – California Mid-State Fair.
SLO Beer Week
SLO Beer Week, a week-long celebration of beer in San Luis Obispo! Events take place October 16-22, 2016 and will include a CollaBEERation, showing of “Craft: A California Beer Documentary”, Beer Geek, Thursday Night Market Tasting, Somm Versus Cicerone Dinner and a Best of the Fest seminar. SLO Beer Week will showcase San Luis Obispo’s budding craft beer scene and create business and awareness for craft breweries.
Margarita Adventures Introduces a New Attraction: The Double Barrel Tandem Ziplining Experience, Santa Margarita
Visitors can now enjoy Paso Robles’ first ever tandem zipline at Margarita Adventures. The new adventure, playfully named the Double Barrel, takes riders on a side-by-side tour traveling 2,800 feet over steep canyons and through the treetops. It is Margarita Adventure’s longest, fastest and highest zipline. After conquering the Double Barrel, adventure-seekers will cross another new attraction, a 300-foot suspension bridge to the next zip line course – the Renegade – before landing safely back at the ranch.
More to Mention Pismo Beach welcomes the new Oyster Loft, a fine dining oceanfront restaurant featuring fresh seafood that is delivered daily and thoughtfully prepared in their kitchen. Opened in February 2015, the SLO Skate Park is a new, state-of-the-art facility that is free to the public and beginner skate camps will be offered for those interested. Downtown Paso Robles has seen the new addition of Catch Seafood Bar and Grill as well as the newest tasting room/wine bar – Wine O Clock. Paso Robles also welcomes the opening of the new Adelaida Cellars’ 8,200 square-foot tasting room, as well as San Antonio Winery’s new winery facility this summer.
