Bangkok - Advertorial - EVIn general, is February a good time to travel in Asia?

Here Exotic Voyages’ Travel Expert Team gives their advice, on how they think it is and how best to enjoy the appealing climate and large number of festivals that take place, including the Lunar New Year. Let’s share our insight as to where to go at this often very busy and exciting time in Asia Travel.

1. Western Bhutan

The highlight of this little Himalayan Kingdom will be the Losar Festival, the New Year shared by Tibetans, Nepalese and Bhutanese. The holiday will be celebrated for 15 days. In 2016, it will be from the 8th to the 22nd. During Losar, big cities like Thimphu, Punakha and Paro will held numerous festivities including archery contests and feasts of mountain delicacies. Later in the month, you can also witness the Punakha Tshechu (dance festival) from 17 to 19 February, one of the largest tshechus in a year. Or, head back to the capital of Thimphu to celebrate the birthday of the fifth and current king of Bhutan, Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck.

Best for: cultural discovery.

2. Maldives

What can be a better way to spend Valentine’s Day with your loved one than between the clear blue sky and the emerald waters of Maldives? In this tropical paradise, February is not only the sunniest month (10 hours of daily sunshine in average) of the year in Maldives but also the driest month (temperatures often fluctuates around 28 degrees Celsius). Of course, perfect weather conditions will also mean a lot of tourists flocking in. However, if you stay in a luxury resort, ultimate privacy is something you don’t have to worry much about.

Best for: luxury, honeymoons and couples.

3. Hong Kong

The splendid Hong Kong gets even brighter as lanterns and decorating lights sparkle across the city. Don’t miss the night parade on Lunar New Year’s Eve in Tsim Sha Tsui. This ancient festival features a fabulous parade of floats, musical and dance performances, concluded by the stunning fireworks shown over the magnificent Victoria Harbor. Parents can bring their kids to the Hong Kong Disneyland, while the cultural enthusiasts can go to the peak of Hong Kong and receive blessings at the Wheel of Fortune. We also cannot help mentioning the exceptional cuisine and a wide range of shopping opportunities in one of Asia’s most attractive cities.

Best for: families with children.

4. Bangkok

If you want to celebrate Lunar New Year but only for one day, how about a visit to Bangkok for the 8th of February? The festival is celebrated in the city’s Chinatown, where the Chinese community takes a day off to decorate their houses and streets, offer prayers and respect to their gods and ancestors. Other than this day, Bangkok still excites you with an exotic culinary world, a wide selection of hotels with excellent value and a vibrant night life. And one of the best things with Thai capital is flights from here to other destinations in Asia, not just in Thailand are abundant and with great value.

Best for: a vibrant and dynamic city with lots of things to do plus excellent value.

5. Ngapali Beach

If you’ve ever wondered how Thai islands would look like 2 or 3 decades ago, visit Ngapali Beach in Southern Myanmar. This spectacular long and spectacular beach is only a short flight away from the former capital of Yangon, but it remains under-the-radar to most travelers. In February, the weather is beautiful, with lots of sunshine and warm ocean breeze, plus, rainfalls are very rare. Hotel selection maybe limited if you compare to that in Thailand, but the scene of endless sun-kissed beaches without the crowds is something Ngapali has to offer.

Best for: private beach getaways.
