The world’s leading hotel price comparison platform, HotelsCombined, has announced the first hotelier award of its kind in Australia and the hotels that have achieved finalist stage.

The Recognition of Excellence Awards is an annual award announced in the first quarter of every year, with 2017 its inaugural year. The awards identify the top, independent Australian hotels in each state and regional holiday hotspot for outstanding customer satisfaction. Finalists are among the best hotels in their location for customer service, with results compiled from detailed analysis of HotelsCombined’s customer feedback points.

The unique analysis by HotelsCombined’s team of data experts means that the Recognition of Excellence Awards are based on criteria including quality and consistency of guest reviews, customer ratings, the absence of recurring or unresolved issues, blogs, forums and social media posts. Finalists and winners are representative of the highest standards in the industry, averaging 9.7 out of a possible 10 points, compared to the industry standard of 7.2, placing them within the top three per cent of hotels worldwide.

Chris Rivett, Head of Marketing for HotelsCombined Australia and New Zealand, says: “Finalists in HotelsCombined’s Recognition of Excellence Awards span our capital cities and beloved regional hotspots including Byron Bay in New South Wales, the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Peninsula in Victoria and Margaret River in Western Australia.

“Customer satisfaction highlights the very best offerings in Australia, and provide an excellent benchmark for those looking to make accommodation choices when planning a trip. The awards also provide winners with the opportunity to distinguish themselves from competitors, and it’s great to see many Australian properties achieving these results.”
