Not everyone likes big cities, but for those who do, Condé Nast Traveler has published the results of its 31st annual Readers’ Choice Awards, giving the Top 10 Big Cities – with two Australian cities included.

Japan must be feeling very chuffed, scoring the first two places in the list.

Melbourne came third, easily beating its rival Sydney, which came sixth.

There’s a list of top smaller cities too (more about that in a moment).

  1. Tokyo
  2. Kyoto
  3. Melbourne
  4. Vienna
  5. Hamburg
  6. Sydney
  7. Singapore
  8. Paris

Melbourne by night

Nearly half a million Condé Nast Traveler readers submitted a recording-breaking number of responses rating their travel experiences to determine the award winners.

The recognition in the Readers’ Choice Awards of two Australian cities in the Top 10 will continue to raise the profile of Sydney and NSW to the US market.

The 2018 Readers’ Choice Awards has been published on Condé Nast Traveler’s website, with some wonderful photographs and tips on what to do in the cities. It’s celebrated in the November issue of the magazine.

Check out the list of top smaller cities – some surprises in that, at cntraveler.com/rca.
