Who Took Home The Gold At The 2015 North Coast Tourism Awards In Byron Bay On Saturday Night

The home crowd in Byron Bay had lots to celebrate at The 2015 North Coast Tourism Awards on Saturday night with Byron Bay leading the Gold Award tally in this highly contested competition among North Coast tourism’s best.

Byron Bay tourism operators led the pack taking home five, first place, Gold Awards closely contested by Coffs Coast with four Gold and Greater Port Macquariewith the same.

The Manning Valley, ably represented by multi award winning Bent on Food took home two Gold awards in the coveted food and restaurant categories while the Great Lakes led with Gold for Caravans and Holiday Parks, Lismore’s Wollongbar TAFE won the Gold in the Education category and Visit NSW’s State Forests took the Gold for Destination Marketing. 

The sold out 2015 North Coast Tourism Awards were held at The Byron at Byron Resort and Spa and hosted by television personality, Shelley Craft of “The Block” television fame.

North Coast Holiday Park’s Amber Kolo received the Young Achiever Award for 2015. Amber is Marketing and Communications Manager for this large North Coast accommodation provider overseeing all marketing for 24 holidays parks and several reserves.

The Individual Contribution to Tourism award went to Ian Beadle of Big 4 North Star Holiday Resort at Hastings Point that annually brings more than 110,000 bed nights to the Tweed and Northern Rivers.

“Ian’s vision, drive and passion to provide exceptionally high standards of facilities combined with unwavering professionalism has seen him set a standard amongst the industry. His business has accumulated a lengthy list of coveted business and tourism awards including the Australian Tourism Awards for Excellence,” said North Coast Destination Network Executive Officer, Ms Belinda Novicky.

“There were a number of new contenders for the Tourism Awards this year which is always encouraging for our region’s future success and product mix, “said Ms Novicky.

“We applaud their initiative and the texture they add to our tourism experiences. It’s clear there are a number of future winners along the coast but this year winners were dominated by well established names that illustrate the consistency of quality in our region too.”
